Scholastic’s Virtual Book Fest on March 20th Will Feature a Q&A Session With R.L. Stine
This one’s for the parents of young monster lovers…
With millions of children home from school and parents shuttered in alongside them, Scholastic is launching its first ever Virtual Book Fest tomorrow, Friday, March 20th.
The virtual fun begins at 3pm EST with a Q&A with R.L. Stine, the prolific author behind the long-running Goosebumps series. Kids will be able to talk horror with Stine himself!
“The festival will take place on Home Base, a free, moderated (that means there’s an actual person there moderating the chat and ready to step in if something’s inappropriate), and safe online community for kids. You can access Home Base through a computer, or download the Apple app or Android app to join. You’ll be prompted to create an account, and from there you can join the Scholastic book festival.”
“I’m so happy to kick off this author festival,” R.L. Stine said in a statement “What a great way to say hi to everyone! I know a lot of you are home and have extra time on your hands. I’d like to give you a little warning for while you are home. Whatever you do to fill the time, don’t read books. I’ll tell you why. Reading books can become a habit. Once you read one, you want to read another. And then another. Before you even know it, you’ll have developed a dangerous reading habit that’s really hard to break. So be very careful, okay? I hope you’ll remember my advice. And I hope you’ll remember that I’m the only author who told you not to read. (And maybe I was kidding.) Catch you later!”
