‘Silent Night, Deadly Night’ – Official Novelization of the Rohan Campbell Movie Releasing This November

Released in theaters last year, director Mike P. Nelson’s Silent Night, Deadly Night is getting an official novelization from Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting this coming holiday season!

The blood-drenched novelization from splatterpunk legend Shane McKenzie (All You Can Eat, Muerte Con Carne) will be released on Limited Hardcover, Paperback & eBook on November 24.

Silent Night, Deadly Night: The Novelization is a reimagining of the controversial 1984 cult horror classic. When Billy witnesses his parents’ grisly murder on Christmas Eve at the hands of Santa, it ignites a lifelong mission to spread holiday fear. Every Christmas, he dons the jolly red suit and delivers a blood-soaked massacre to feed his need for justice.

This Christmas Eve, Billy wants to know: “Have you been naughty?”

“Reimagining Silent Night, Deadly Night was such an unexpected treat,” director Mike P. Nelson tells Bloody Disgusting. “The original was such an “off limits” video nasty growing up that all I could do was look at that original VHS case and imagine all the crazy that took place inside that black plastic tape. The fact that all these years later I would be jumping into that world is still mind blowing to me. Finding a new spin on these characters and story was a labor of love and am so grateful that Scott and Dennis the original producers saw something unique, yet familiar in my take on their classic Christmas slasher. And now, having an official novelization, is incredibly special.”

“Shane has done an amazing job melding what was in the screenplay with what we shot, adding more depth to each character and taking the splatter aspect to a whole new level,” Nelson continues. “The read is heartfelt and incredibly brutal!”

Shane McKenzie adds, “As a very naughty boy myself, I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of this project and to be allowed to play in the Silent Night, Deadly Night universe! I’ll never forget watching the original film, probably a bit too young if I’m being honest! It definitely made a huge impact on me, teaching me early on how to push the envelope in the genre that I’ve loved since my first memory as a human being! Mike P. Nelson’s reimagining of the film blew me away, and to be trusted to put this wildly talented filmmaker’s story to paper was a task I did not take lightly.”

“I mean… come on,” McKenzie teases. “What horror writer wouldn’t salivate at the chance to write an axe-wielding Santa Claus vs. Nazis scene?”
