Published

on

As Fright Night writer/director Tom Holland has been teasing this year, the film’s universe will be expanded upon with a brand new comic series, with the title Fright Night: The Peter Vincent Chronicles revealed just last week. And guess what? Issue #0 is now available!

Billed as a sequel to the 1985 film, the 24-page original comic book is based on a story by Tom Holland, focusing on the adventures of Peter Vincent immediately following the events of the first film. It’s intended to serve as a bridge into future Fright Night comic books.

“It’s all I could hope for. A great continuation of the original,” said Holland. “Roddy would be proud to know his creation was continuing his journey in such high (and bloody) style. Ben Meares’s story is a winner and Riley Schmitz’s artwork captures the Fright Night experience for today’s fans. Onward, with The Peter Vincent Chronicles!

A limited edition Deluxe Edition package is also being offered, which will contain the comic book, an exclusive print by artist Riley Schmitz (signed by Holland), a Peter Vincent “Fang Club” commemorative coin and a replica of Peter Vincent’s vampire-hunting stake produced by veteran special effects artist Stephen Imhoff (signed by Holland). Both the commemorative coin and the stake replica are taken directly from the pages of the upcoming comic.

Fright Night: The Peter Vincent Chronicles Issue 0 is now up for pre-order and will be available for order on Friday, August 3rd, exclusively from Terror Time.

The comic book is scripted and edited by Ben Meares (Hellraiser: Anthology, Grimm Tales of Terror) and illustrated by Riley Schmitz (Hellraiser: Anthology, Invisible Hands).

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has two awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

IDW Dark and Paramount Announce New ‘Smile’ and ‘A Quiet Place’ Comic Book Tales

Published

on

IDW Dark and Paramount recently joined forces to launch limited comic book tales set in the worlds of Smile and A Quiet Place, and we’ve learned today that they’ll continue hanging around in those franchise universes with two brand new limited series tales.

Entertainment Weekly has exclusively revealed this afternoon that IDW Dark’s Any Given Smile debuts in September, while A Quiet Place: Rising Tides arrives in November.

First up, from writer Stephanie Williams and artist Pablo CollarAny Given Smile puts a football-themed twist on Parker Finn’s successful Smile movie franchise.

The five-part limited series is “set in January 1995, during the American Arena League football championship game in St. Augustine, Florida. The rising superstar of the Sharks, backup quarterback Dupree, is feeling the pressure from his teammates, the fans, and also the city’s gambling underworld, to whom he owes a considerable debt. Meanwhile, a sports journalist investigates a string of suicides that may be connected to the big game. At the very least, they are connected to a sinister entity that preys on the minds of its victims.”

From writer Declan Shalvey and artist Luke SparrowA Quiet Place: Rising Tides will also be a five-issue limited story. The comic book tale “brings the creatures to the Florida Keys, where a father-daughter duo attempt to survive on water in a houseboat.”

EW further details, “This tense family reunion coincides with the arrival of the vicious creatures that hunt through sound. Grace and her dad find safety on the open ocean, but she’ll have to make landfall sooner or later; the father’s oxygen tank and their supplies are running low, while a hurricane swiftly approaches.”
