At one point, the killer unleashes bees on McClane, in tribute to ’78 horror film The Swarm.
We’re not sure how this slipped under our radar, but last month saw the release of an 80-page graphic novel titled A Million Ways to Die Hard, which takes place exactly 30 years after the events of the original Die Hard and has a totally bonkers premise that ensured I’d be grabbing a copy immediately. In it, John McClane battles a movie-obsessed serial killer!
In A Million Ways to Die Hard, penned by Frank Tieri…
“A retired John McClane is pulled back into the game by a dangerous foe he never thought he’d face again—a psychotic serial killer with a theatrical taste for casting his victims in reproductions of Hollywood’s greatest and deadliest films! Faced with impossible choices and unimaginable odds, A Million Ways To Die Hard just may be the last case McClane ever has.”
This sounds *perfect* for horror fans, and in fact, the only two reviews on Amazon are negative star ratings due to how graphic, mean-spirited and gruesome the tale is!
One reviewer wrote, “The story is just really…seedy. And graphic. Mild spoilers from here. One sequence shows a guy who ate so much I guess a hole exploded in his chest?? A woman with a tangential link to the original, gets swallowed by a shark whole.”
