‘Hellraiser’ – BOOM! Studios Announces Two New Comic Book Series Set in Clive Barker’s Hellish World [Exclusive]

BOOM! Studios has been doing a hell of a job bringing the Clive Barker-created Hellraiser franchise back to life this year, first announcing that three classic Clive Barker Hellraiser comic books are coming back to shelves. And then they announced five all-new one-shots set in the world of Hellraiser… but even that was just the beginning.

Bloody Disgusting is excited to exclusively let you know this afternoon that BOOM! bringing the heat with two new series set in the twisted world of Clive Barker’s Hellraiser.

HELLBOUND HEARTS and NEW PARABLES will take you deeper into the depths of hell!

First, author Mike Costa and visionary artist Jan Bazaldua join forces in HELLRAISER: HELLBOUND HEARTS. Featuring an onslaught of variant covers featuring talent such as Jim Cheung, Jonathan Wayshak, and Ito, HELLBOUND HEARTS brings together a group of terrorized survivors, each with their own scars from their horrific encounters with the Cenobites. With the Box in hand, brimming with resentment and ambition, will this crew of misfits be ready to hear what Pinhead has to say?

“Working on Hellraiser is one of the most daunting challenges a writer can face. The genius of Clive Barker, the thing that makes his original stories special, is that they’re not just scary, they make you feel ugly and bad. And uncomfortable in your own skin—maybe that’s why people are always getting their skin ripped off,” Costa said in a statement. “But you really have to dig deep into some awful stuff to do this franchise justice. And I’m glad I have a collaborator as special as Jan to help me swing the shovel; it’s not easy work.”

Then, New York Times–bestselling author Sarah Gailey teams up with sequential artist Savanna Mayer in HELLRAISER: NEW PARABLES. After the fallout of HELLRAISER: THE RETURN OF THE PRIEST #1, Pinhead and his New Monastic Order of the Gash are on thin ice. The ancient Council in Leviathan have noticed Pinhead’s new scions, Quiver and Sublux, and their newfound devotion to suffering—outside the purview of the Council. But the Engineer seems to have given the Order his blessing, and the Council is interested in finding out why…

“I am beginning to suspect that I may be the luckiest person alive,” said Gailey about NEW PARABLES. “Working with artist Savanna Mayer is already proving to be a highlight of my career. Mayer approaches art with a level of fearless detail that I have rarely witnessed. Their art reminds me, appropriately enough, of Clive Barker’s paintings.”

“In many ways, it was his art that turned me into a horror fan, and I am so honored to get to work with Savanna to tell Hellraiser stories,” they continued. “Editor Ari Yarwood is a brilliant captain for our team. Together, I suspect we are going to make something truly wretched.”

Mayer added, “When I was given Gailey’s script proposal for Hellraiser: New Parables, I was struck with how well they understood what the Cenobites actually stood for. ‘We will make suffering a worship, and worship a suffering.’ A writer who could exhume the yearning equivalent of a tortured saint who would happily suffer for what they worshipped.”

“What a gift to be paired with a writer that wants to sink their teeth in deep and share the blood with you,” continued Mayer. “Gailey is a writer who is capable of writing not only incredible horror, but horror that stays in the back of your head and makes you come back for more with new understanding each time. I couldn’t be more enthused to stand by their side and open up this new puzzle box.”

HELLRAISER: HELLBOUND HEARTS and HELLRAISER: NEW PARABLES are published by BOOM! and distributed by Penguin Random House.

HELLBOUND HEARTS will release as a single issue series in January 2027 with NEW PARABLES launching in April 2027. Both are available for preorder at your local comic shop.
