People walked out of Swiss Army Man during its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, and I feel bad for them. Those are the kind of people who have a stick up their ass and think they’re too good for film.
Yes, Daniel Radcliffe farts in this movie, in which he plays a corpse who spiritually rescues a man who is lost (Paul Dano). But it’s in the context of his character and not in a way that’s meant to shock the audience. It sort of asks, what if Weekend At Bernie’s were a real incident? What if Bernie really were dead on a beach? Then it mixes in the harrowing story that’s similar to Cast Away.
But I digress…
Swiss Army Man is the directorial debut of music video duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, who clearly had a unique vision that explodes onto the screen. And they’re going to be on hand to introduce the film to Chicago audienced on Sunday, June 26!
