Music is one of the few things that keeps me sane. I listen to it as much as possible, soaking in the melodies, lyrics, and harmonies with a ferocity that some may find unsettling. It’s what keeps me sane. And it’s one of the greatest feelings when I find a new band that just sucks me in, enchanting me with their offerings.*
Such is the case with Adding Machine, a UK-based quartet that describes themselves as “…early Cocteau guitar shrieks, throbbing post-punk bass and Silver Apples-inspired rhythms writhe beneath Siouxsie-esque macabre-pop tales.” Oh, and they’re inspired by the 80’s horror synth of John Carpenter. If that doesn’t hook you, I don’t know what will.
The band is currently working on their upcoming album and have released a teaser track for “Square Piece”, which was produced by Adrian Utley (Portishead). You can hear that track and two others below to get a flavor for this group. I hope you enjoy them as much as I am!
