Don’t even try to tell me that Akira isn’t horror! Yes, it’s primarily sci-fi with heavy doses of action but the amount of horror that this film has is off the goddamn charts! Nightmarish toys coming to life, bodies exploding all over a hospital hallway, complete and utter metamorphosis into something…I don’t even know how to describe Tetsuo.
This film has earned its place as one of the greatest anime films of all time. If you haven’t seen it, you’ve got some catching up to do.
