What’s great about Leslie Vernon is that he played not only the protagonist but also us, the viewers, the whole time. It was only at the end that we realized that this entire “documentary” was a farce, a sham, an opportunity for him to get close to his intended victim.
But during the whole film he was nothing but a joy to watch! He’s charming, his excitement infectious, and, once he got going, he was everything a horror fan wanted: he was ruthless, he was cunning, and he wasn’t squeamish at all.
