Ten Awesome Horror Movie Licensed Soundtracks

Donnie Darko

I will never be ashamed of my love for music from the 80’s. There is this sound from that era that is so dreamlike, as though everything was in a higher plane of existence. And considering the nature of this movie, that aesthetic worked perfectly. Plus, who can complain when you have Echo & The Bunnymen, Oingo Boingo, Tears For Fears, INXS, and more?I know I can’t!

Bride Of Chucky

When you have a movie about the romantic difficulties between two murderous dolls, no other soundtrack would work except for something packed to the brim with raging fury and white hot distortion. From Powerman 5000 to Static X, Rob Zombie to Type O Negative, Judas Priest to Coal Chamber, this soundtrack has everything needed for a mass murder road trip!

Valentine

The above was one of my favorite songs for a long time and I never would’ve found it had it not been for this soundtrack. On top of Snake River Conspiracy, there was also Marilyn Manson, Orgy, Deftones, BT, Filter, and a whole lot more. God, this fueled so much of my teenage angst…

The Blair Witch Project: Josh’s Blair Witch Mix

Hovering between industrial noise and beautiful ambience, none of these tracks actually appeared in the film. However, that doesn’t change the fact that it feels like a wonderful accompaniment. For those who never gave this a listen, I highly recommend it.
