“I love Don Siegel’s classic (and the 1978 remake) but not many talk about Abel Ferrara’s version which I saw in its initial release in 1994. It was hard to wrap my head around that this was a Ferrara film having seen Bad Lieutenant just a couple of years earlier – but it is unlike anything else in his body of work, deeply human and at least one shot that I haven’t been able to forget (there’s a helicopter).”
