Horror movies have the power to scare us, but they don’t have quite the same power as a video game. What makes video games so much scarier than horror films is that you are actually in the story. That’s the whole point of a virtual world, after all. They have the power to scare you more effectively than any movie can. This is also why jump scares are more forgivable in video games (and come off as cheap in a movie). The list below are some of the video game moments that have made me literally jump out of my seat.
