I’m a Metallica fan and I have no problems admitting that! They band is, in my opinion, one of the most adventurous metal groups to grace the scene, evolving and changing their styles from pretty much every album they’ve done. While some may say that they sold out, I heartily disagree. The success of The Black Album could’ve led them to record more albums just like it. Y’know, those punchy 3-5 minute tracks that hit hard but don’t enter the realm of fluff and filler.
But they didn’t. Instead, they did something new and exciting for them, which resulted in Load. Then, they went off the beaten path once again with Reload, again with S&M, yet again with St. Anger, before returning to a pre-Black Album era sound, that was still modern and forward thinking, with Death Magnetic.
The point is that the band never settled and listening to anything new from them is always an experience because you never know what’s coming next.
So, to share my love of the group, I want to make this edition of Twisted Music Video of the Week all about one of music’s top selling groups. Ahead are several videos of theirs that all have something “off” or “weird” going on. From the heartbreaking story of “One” to the Bosch-esque visuals of “Until It Sleeps”, these videos all fit into the definition of “twisted”. Massage your neck and warm it up and get to head banging!
