Which Novels Do You Want To See Get Film Adaptations?

Novel

The Passage by Justin Cronin

While we are still waiting for Cronin’s final novel in his Passage trilogy, we can hold out hope that a feature film adaptation of his dense first novel actually comes to fruition. The Passage and its sequel The Twelve tell a post-apocalyptic tale of a vampire-like virus that wipes out most of humanity. It is set 97 years in the future as we follow a group of survivors as they try to find a cure against the virals. It’s a familiar tale, but Cronin’s prose makes it feel fresh. To see the virals put on screen would be a real treat, and I would love to see audience reactions when the story shifts 97 years in the future a third of the way through and we shift focus to a completely new cast of characters. Ridley Scott’s production studio Scott Free productions purchased the film rights in 2007, but nothing has come of it (and now that he’s going to be busy filming Prometheus 2 it will probably be a while before we hear anything). Make it happen Mr. Scott!
