While some critics lambast horror for being nothing more than “blood and guts”, you can’t deny that some of those gory scenes are quite beautiful. After all, they allow for amazing shades of reds, wonderful shots of viscera spraying everywhere, and we get to really see what a person is truly made of. Literally.
But in all seriousness, horror has a ton to offer. And in order to create something terrifying, you have to be able to draw in the viewers, to make them a part of what’s going on. And why can’t that be something visually incredibly? Why can’t we admit that there is such a thing as “beautiful horror”? After all, some of the most revered pieces of art and literature throughout
history deal with the most terrifying of topics.
