The great Robert Englund turns 69 today. Rather than go the obvious route and focus on the role that made him famous, we thought we would celebrate this horror icon’s birthday by looking at some of his best roles that weren’t Freddy Krueger. Since his film debut in 1974’s Buster and Billie, Englund has appeared in more than 75 films and TV shows. There have been quite a few obscure roles he has taken over the years, but we’ve listed seven of them that we feel are some of the most iconic roles he has taken on. Did you favorite make the cut?
Dr. Andover – Fear Clinic
One of Englund’s more recent roles was that of mad scientist Dr. Andover, who is trying to cure the fears of the world’s population using his fear chamber, which immerses his patients in a simulation of their worst fears. Fear Clinic started as a web series and was eventually adapted into a film of the same name in which Englund reprised his role (though it lost the talented Danielle Harris in the process). The film works for the most part, though this is mostly because of Englund’s committed performance.
