‘The Girl in the Photographs’ Gets Kidnapped In This Exclusive Image
In addition to the first clip, Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive new image from Nick Simon’s The Girl in the Photographs, starring Kal Penn, best known as Kumar in Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.
Wes Craven executive produced The Girl in the Photographs, which was lensed by the veteran cinematographer Dean Cundey (Back to the Future, Jurassic Park), and marks his return to horror after lensing the original Halloween films.
The film will World premiere in TIFF’s Midnight Madness lineup on September 14th.
“Colleen’s life isn’t going anywhere. The small town natural beauty is bored with her dead end job at a grocery store and is ready to distance herself from her abusive boyfriend. In the midst of her turmoil, a pair of deranged serial killers begins leaving her photos of their mutilated victims. Her chance to escape comes in the form of Peter Hemmings (Penn), a hipster celebrity photographer who has traveled back to his hometown of Spearfish, South Dakota with a pack of models, intent on copying the killers’ intense and unapologetic artistry and use it for an important ad campaign. When he learns Colleen is their muse, Peter resolves to make her his own and use her as the centerpiece of a photo campaign in Los Angeles. But before Colleen can leave her old life behind, she must contend with the desires of her murderous stalkers who have chosen her last night in town to execute their most provocative work to date.”

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.
“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”
Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.
Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (Heretic, The Blackening).
This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
