‘The Blackcoat’s Daughter’ Cast and Crew Honor the Genre (Exclusive)

In this exclusive featurette, which will be attached to the iTunes release of The Blackcoat’s Daughter, the cast and crew discuss honoring the genre of the film. It featured director Osgood Perkins, along with stars Emma Roberts, Kiernan Shipka, and James Remar.

I’m so excited that you guys finally get to see Osgood Perkins’ The Blackcoat’s Daughter (read my review), which I saw way back in September of 2015 (under the title of February) at its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. After making its debut on DirecTV and in limited theaters, Osgood Perkins’ film arrives on Blu-ray Combo Pack (plus Digital HD) and DVD May 30th from Lionsgate. Extra features include commentary with Perkins, son of legendary Psycho actor Anthony Perkins, as well as “The Dead of Winter: Making The Blackcoat’s Daughter” featurette.

Emma Roberts (“American Horror Story”, “Scream Queens”) and Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men,” Carriers) star as two terrified girls who must battle a mysterious evil force when they get left behind at their boarding school over winter break.

Beautiful and haunted Joan (Emma Roberts) makes a bloody and determined pilgrimage across a frozen landscape toward a prestigious all-girls prep school, where Rose (Lucy Boynton) and Kat (Kiernan Shipka) find themselves stranded after their parents mysteriously fail to retrieve them for winter break. As Joan gets closer, Rose watches in horror while Kat suffers terrifying visions and becomes possessed by an unseen force.

The art is also pretty exciting, boasting our eternal love for the satanic thriller right on the front. We rarely approve usage of quotes on art, unless it’s something we’re passionate about and feel like we can stand behind. Hopefully, you love Blackcoat’s Daughter as much as we do!

‘Dancing Village: The Curse Begins’ – Exclusive Clip and Images Begin a Gruesome Indonesian Nightmare

Indonesian filmmaker Kimo Stamboel (Macabre, Headshot, The Queen of Black Magic) is back in the director’s chair for MD Pictures’ Badarawuhi Di Desa Penari (aka Dancing Village: The Curse Begins), a prequel to the Indonesian box office hit KKN Curse Of The Dancing Village. Lionsgate brings the film to U.S. theaters on April 26.

In the horror prequel, “A shaman instructs Mila to return a mystical bracelet, the Kawaturih, to the ‘Dancing Village,’ a remote site on the easternmost tip of Java Island. Joined by her cousin, Yuda, and his friends Jito and Arya, Mila arrives on the island only to discover that the village elder has passed away, and that the new guardian, Mbah Buyut, isn’t present.

“Various strange and eerie events occur while awaiting Mbah Buyut’s return, including Mila being visited by Badarawuhi, a mysterious, mythical being who rules the village. When she decides to return the Kawaturih without the help of Mgah Buyut, Mila threatens the village’s safety, and she must join a ritual to select the new ‘Dawuh,’ a cursed soul forced to dance for the rest of her life.”

Kimo Stamboel directs from a screenplay by Lele Laila.

KKN Curse Of The Dancing Village was the highest grossing film in Indonesian box office history when initially released in 2022. Its prequel is the first film made for IMAX ever produced in Southeast Asia and in 2024, it will be one of only five films made for IMAX productions worldwide. Manoj Punjabi produces the upcoming Indonesian horror prequel.
