The original score for this Halloween season’s brand new animated film The Addams Family was composed by Mychael and Jeff Danna and will be released digitally on October 11.

The motion picture soundtrack is now up for pre-order, and to whet your appetite we’re excited to exclusively debut Mycheal and Jeff’s track “Welcome to the Addams Family”!

Listen to the track from Lakeshore Records below!

“The score combines non-western musical traditions with orchestral music to wildly creative effect.”

In Conrad Vernon’s and Greg Tiernan’s visually lavish film, they take us back to the Addams Family‘s old country’ European roots as the film begins its journey,” said Mycheal and Jeff. “Musically we relished the opportunity to explore things from that perspective, and arrived at Gypsy Music as a way to access the history and the dark humor of the family as they migrate to America to start their new lives. Combining gypsy instrumentation and modalities from Spain and Eastern Europe with a cinematic orchestra, gave us a tremendously colorful and lively palette to work with. Adding a dash of large gothic organ and musical saw to the brew, we created a sound that moved easily between Large & Frightening and Whimsical – Gothic and Ironic. We felt it appropriate to have moments where we honored Vic Mizzy’s popular 1964 Addams Family tv theme song, a tune that is linked inextricably with the iconic Addams characters. We enjoyed putting that music into a new light, with gypsy instruments and time signatures, and sometimes the full orchestra pounding out the familiar 4 note refrain.”

Based on the famous New Yorker creations of Charles Addams, MGM’s animated comedy features an all-star voice cast let by Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Allison Janney, Elsie Fisher, and Snoop Dogg playing IT.

Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan, The Addams Family will be released in theaters on October 11, 2019 via MGM’s United Artists Releasing banner.

Shudder Infested clip, spider horror

Director Sébastien Vaniček has been set to helm the next Evil Dead movie, but up first from the filmmaker is the creepy crawly spider horror movie Infested. An exclusive new clip gives a discomfiting closer look at the spider terror, and it’ll make you intensely afraid of all bathroom drains and fixtures.

Infested will induce a new wave of arachnophobia this week; the spider horror film arrives on Shudder on April 26, 2024.

If you’re brave enough to face your fears, watch the new clip below to get a feel for the unrelenting wave of spiders that the characters (and the audience) will face in the film.

In the film, “An underprivileged suburb has been thrown into chaos following an invasion of venomous spiders. Ordered to be placed in quarantine, the project sees inhabitants living on lockdown alongside terrifying spiders that are becoming bigger and bigger.

“The story revolves around Kaleb, who’s about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over a matter of inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend.

“Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with a venomous spider and accidentally lets it slip away.”

Théo Christine (“Suprêmes”), Finnegan Oldfield (“Final Cut”), Jérôme Niel (“Smoking Causes Coughing”), Sofia Lesaffre (“Les Misérables”) and Lisa Nyarko star.

Florent Bernard co-wrote the script.

In his review out of Fantastic Fest last year, Bloody Disgusting’s Trace Thurman raved that Infested (aka Vermines) is “one of the best spider attack movies in years,” noting in his 4-star review that the creature feature uses practical spiders – REAL SPIDERS – as much as possible. Thurman also wrote that the spider horror movie is “full of moments that will get under your skin (I kicked my legs up more than a few times in my screening).”

The spiders will be everywhere in Infested, are you ready?
