‘The Djinn’ Poster Cannot Undo What’s Been Done [Exclusive]

One of the best films we saw last year was The Boy Behind the Door, which Shudder just announced for release this coming July. But before you even get a chance to survive the “unrelentingly intense, boundary-pushing thriller,” the filmmakers will see their follow-up horror film released next month.

IFC Midnight is conjuring The Djinn for release here in the States in limited theaters, On Demand and Digital this coming May 14th.

The Boy Behind the Door filmmakers David Charbonier and Justin Powell wrote and directed the film, which will be opening in New York at the IFC Center and Los Angeles at Laemmle NoHo7.

“The story follows a mute twelve-year-old, Dylan Jacobs, as he discovers a mysterious book of spells inside his new apartment. Grieving the loss of his mother, and feeling isolated from everyone except for his father, Dylan performs a ritual that promises to deliver his heart’s desire: to have a voice. But he soon discovers that every gift has a toll when a sinister djinn arrives to collect his soul. Now trapped in his new home with nowhere to hide, Dylan must find a way to survive until the stroke of midnight or pay the ultimate price.”

Meagan Navarro was a huge fan of The Djinn, writing that it “scares with a suspenseful fairy tale nightmare” out of this month’s Panic Fest premiere.

She adds: “The newest entry in evil djinn horror plays like a bedtime story that harkens back to Grimm origins, in the sense that true, bloody horrors await young boys and girls that don’t heed the rules.”

Check out our exclusive poster premiere that carries a bit of a Poltergeist and Making Contact vibe.
