Trailer for ‘Sharknado’ Director’s ‘Nix’ Deals With Trauma and Addiction [Exclusive] #SDCC

Inspired by Germanic folklore, a tragedy at a mysterious lake continues to haunt a family years after the incident.

1091 Entertainment has shared with Bloody Disgusting an exclusive first look at the trailer for Nix, the latest from Boo! and Sharknado director Anthony C. Ferrante.

Nix is currently scheduled to release on September 27, 2022 on all major digital platforms.

In the film…

“While Jack Coyle struggles to keep his shattered family together, a strange and powerful entity reveals itself again, opening the wounds for another tragedy to occur. As Jack deals with the consequences, he also must protect his young niece from this frightening creature that threatens to destroy everyone.

Nix is said to be “a modern-day horror movie dealing with trauma and addiction and how a tragedy twenty years prior tears apart a family.”

“Once we landed on the concept of Nix and realized its potential, I was excited to return to my horror roots with this elevated, original horror movie,” said Ferrante. “It was also a chance to dig deep into these fractured, haunted characters and explore the depth and emotion within this dark setting while still delivering solid thrills and chills. I’m very proud of the film we created and excited to work with 1091 Pictures to unleash it this fall just in time for Halloween.”

Nix stars James Zimbardi (Awaken the Shadow Man), Michael Paré (Streets of Fire), Skyler Caleb (Awaken the Shadow Man), Angie Teodora Dick (Zombie Tidal Wave), and Dee Wallace, best known to horror fans for her roles in The Howling, Critters, and Cujo, not to mention Rob Zombie’s The Lords of Salem. The film introduces Niesha Renee Guilbot and was written by Caleb, Zimbardi, Woodrow Wilson Hancock III, and Ferrante.

Nix marks Ferrante’s first dramatic horror film since the 2005 hit Boo!

Shudder Infested clip, spider horror

Director Sébastien Vaniček has been set to helm the next Evil Dead movie, but up first from the filmmaker is the creepy crawly spider horror movie Infested. An exclusive new clip gives a discomfiting closer look at the spider terror, and it’ll make you intensely afraid of all bathroom drains and fixtures.

Infested will induce a new wave of arachnophobia this week; the spider horror film arrives on Shudder on April 26, 2024.

If you’re brave enough to face your fears, watch the new clip below to get a feel for the unrelenting wave of spiders that the characters (and the audience) will face in the film.

In the film, “An underprivileged suburb has been thrown into chaos following an invasion of venomous spiders. Ordered to be placed in quarantine, the project sees inhabitants living on lockdown alongside terrifying spiders that are becoming bigger and bigger.

“The story revolves around Kaleb, who’s about to turn 30 and has never been lonelier. He’s fighting with his sister over a matter of inheritance and has cut ties with his best friend.

“Passionate about exotic animals, he comes home one day with a venomous spider and accidentally lets it slip away.”

Théo Christine (“Suprêmes”), Finnegan Oldfield (“Final Cut”), Jérôme Niel (“Smoking Causes Coughing”), Sofia Lesaffre (“Les Misérables”) and Lisa Nyarko star.

Florent Bernard co-wrote the script.

In his review out of Fantastic Fest last year, Bloody Disgusting’s Trace Thurman raved that Infested (aka Vermines) is “one of the best spider attack movies in years,” noting in his 4-star review that the creature feature uses practical spiders – REAL SPIDERS – as much as possible. Thurman also wrote that the spider horror movie is “full of moments that will get under your skin (I kicked my legs up more than a few times in my screening).”

The spiders will be everywhere in Infested, are you ready?
