EXCLUSIVE: Michael Myers Stalks Archie Icons on Special Prints for “Halloween: 45 Years of Terror” Event!
For a few years now, Archie Comics has had its finger on the pulse of horror fandom. From titles such as Afterlife with Archie to The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, horror fans everywhere have discovered the more terrifying side of Riverdale and its inhabitants.
In a surprise announcement that Bloody Disgusting is proud to exclusively reveal, Archie Horror is making its horror convention debut with H45: 45 Years of Terror, a convention celebrating the 45th anniversary of John Carpenter’s Halloween, happening from September 29th to October 1st at the Pasadena Convention Center.
In addition to their presence, Archie Comics will also be bringing two crossover collaboration prints by artist Matt Talbot! The prints depict Halloween’s Michael Myers crossing paths with beloved Archie characters such as Sabrina Spellman, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and everyone’s favorite black cat Salem. These prints will only be available at H45 so fans might want to jump at their chance to get one of these.
Here’s what Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater had to say about the collaboration:
“When we launched the Archie Horror line of comics ten years ago, we knew there was a strong bond between Archie fans and horror fans — both are such integral parts of American pop culture, with beloved tropes and iconic characters. And it’s hard to think of a more iconic character in horror than The Shape himself, Michael Myers. Working with our partners at Trancas International Films and Compass International Pictures to have Michael menace our own final girls — Betty, Veronica, and Sabrina — is a dream come true for all of us at Archie Comics.”
Archie Comics’ Senior Director of Editorial Jamie L. Rotante added:
“A huge thank you to the fine folks at Trancas International Films and Compass International Pictures for allowing us to make this a reality; it’s an absolute honor and honestly surreal to see this blending of worlds, and recreating the classic Sabrina the Teenage Witch cover with The Shape is absolute perfection. We’re so grateful to work with a talent like artist Matt Talbot, who brought these wild fantasies to vivid, gorgeous life, and we’re excited to make our first-ever horror convention debut at H45. Archie Horror is ready to cement its place in the horror community.”
Finally Artist Matt Talbot had this to say about the development process:
“Every so often, if you’re really fortunate, a dream project comes along—and this was one of those times. The Archie gang… meeting up with Michael Myers? When I was asked if I was up for drawing what that might look like, I couldn’t say ‘yes’ fast enough.
“Working on this with the team at Archie was so much fun. We pushed ideas back and forth, I worked up a few sketches, and we chose two of them to bring to life. I love that we ended up with one piece paying homage to an iconic scene from Halloween, and another paying homage to an equally iconic Archie comic cover.
“Archie Horror and Halloween are two of my very favorite spooky things—and the chance to not only see them together, but draw them together? It doesn’t get any better than that!”
These two prints will be available exclusively at H45: 45 Years of Terror from September 29th – October 1st at the Pasadena Convention Center in beautiful sunny Southern California!

‘The Toxic Avenger’ Returns with Cover Artwork for First Issue of New Comic Book Series [Exclusive]
With a remake on the way and a new 4K restoration of the original classic now streaming, it’s a good time to be a fan of Troma’s The Toxic Avenger. Additionally, Matt Bors — the founder of The Nib and a political cartoonist who has twice been named a Pulitzer Prize finalist —and acclaimed artist Fred Harper (Snelson) are collaborating on an all-new 5-issue comic book series starring the satirical superhero of the Troma Films cult classic films!
TOXIC AVENGER #1 will land in stores on October 9, 2024.

“This series will combine elements of the original films with the Toxic Crusaders cartoon and characters in familiar ways, updated to tell a story of environmental devastation, corporate control, and social media mutation,” said Bors. “The Toxic Avenger is first and foremost an environmental satire, one about a small town and its unremarkable people trapped and transformed by circumstances they don’t control. The story Fred Harper and I are telling is about people frustrated by authorities telling them not to worry about their life, that things are fine, even as their dog mutates in front of their eyes. And at its core it is about a powerless boy, Melvin, who finds out he can be incredibly strong, hideously mutated, well-admired, and incredibly heroic… but still ultimately powerless over human behavior.”
In The Toxic Avenger, teenager Melvin Junko helps run his parent’s junkyard in Tromaville, a small town in New Jersey where nothing much ever happens — until an ill-timed train derailment of toxic waste transforms Melvin into a hideously deformed creature of superhuman size and strength: the Toxic Avenger!
Under a media blackout imposed by Biohazard Solutions (BS) and their PR-spewing Chairwoman Lindsay Flick, Melvin emerges as a hero fighting against BS and the mutated threats that keep popping up around Tromaville.
Eventually Melvin uncovers a vast conspiracy more far-reaching than he could have ever imagined — but he knows if everyone is simply made aware of the crisis, they’ll act to stop it. Right?
