The Elderly Clip

Up next from Raúl Cerezo and Fernando González Gómez – the directors of the Dark Star Pictures x Bloody Disgusting collaboration The Passenger – is The Elderly, and Bloody Disgusting has been provided with an eerie clip teasing the strange behavior by the locals.

Watch the new clip below that introduces a nightmare sequence, culminating in a scare that indicates not even church provides safety amidst a horrible heat wave.

Following a successful festival circuit (including Sitges, Fantastic, and Fantasia – with the latter awarding Eguileor “Best Actor”), The Elderly releases in theaters today, October 13.

The film later hits Blu-ray and VOD on October 31, 2023.

“Following the sudden suicide of his wife, Manuel begins acting violently strange. Soon a series of paranormal events has all of the local elderly behaving oddly. They all seem to know something the young do not – paired with a lust for blood.”

Zorion Eguileor (The Platform) stars alongside Gustavo Salmerón, Paula Gallego, Irene Anula, Juan Acedo, and Ángela Gamonal.

Raúl Cerezo, Javier Trigales, and Rubén Sánchez Trigos wrote The Elderly.

The Elderly had a successful festival run beginning with Fantasia, where it was described as continuing “Filmax’s return to top tier genre works that stand completely alone. It is a chilling new vision in Spanish horror cinema.” It won acclaim during its run, with Fantasia awarding Eguileor “Best Actor.”

“The film is one of our strongest horror presentations at Cannes this year and is akin to the type of films clients are used to us bringing to the market, such as the highly successful REC franchise, among others,” Ivan Diaz, Head of International at Filmax, said previously. “What stands out most for me with this film is the extreme care that has been taken over every detail, from the film’s look, to the sound and the music, which completely submerge the audience in its disturbing atmosphere”.

Producer are Persons Films’ Jose Luis Rancaño and La Dalia Films’ Mamen Espinosa.

Horror journalist, RT Top Critic, and Critics Choice Association member. Co-Host of the Bloody Disgusting Podcast. Has appeared on PBS series' Monstrum, served on the SXSW Midnighter shorts jury, and moderated horror panels for WonderCon and SeriesFest.
