Raging Grace Exclusive Clip

After an acclaimed festival run beginning with winning the 2023 SXSW Grand Jury Award earlier this year, writer/director Paris Zarcilla’s debut feature, Raging Grace, arrives in limited theaters this week. Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive clip teasing some of the horror in this “coming of rage” gothic tale.

Brainstorm Media & Doppelgänger Releasing’s acclaimed horror film releases in select theaters on December 1 and will be available on demand December 8.

The film follows “Joy, an undocumented Filipino immigrant who is struggling to do the best she can for her daughter when she secures the perfect job: taking care of an extremely wealthy but terminal old man. The new position pays well and guarantees a roof over their heads. But very soon, Joy and her daughter Grace start to realize everything is not as it seems. Something is festering beneath the surface, threatening all they have worked for.”

Watch the clip below that sees Joy reading and learning more about her employers, unaware that she’s being watched by a very sinister looking Mr. Garrett.

Raging Grace was written and directed by BIFA-nominee Paris Zarcilla (Pommel, The Century Egg), produced by Chi Thai (The Promise, Little Miss Sumoand starring Filipina actress Max Eigenmann (Verdict) and David Hayman (Bull, “Andor”).

I wrote in my review of the film out of FrightFest, “Paris Zarcilla’s debut is carried by the strength of its cultural specificity, perspective, and lead performers. Zarcilla wrings palpable tension from encounters and succeeds in keeping viewers on their toes through surprising revelations and the inclusion of an unpredictable child. Raging Grace is billed as a ‘coming-of-rage’ tale, and on that, it delivers. Zarcilla’s debut makes for a fascinating horror experiment, but it’s in the deeply personal story and perspective where it shines brightest.”

Look for Zarcilla’s award-winning, haunting debut in theaters this Friday.
