‘The Demon Disorder’ Trailer – Goopy Demonic Horror from SFX Master Steven Boyle Heads to Shudder this Fall [Exclusive]
SFX master Steven Boyle’s effects work has been seen in 2005’s King Kong, Love and Monsters, Bait, What We Do in the Shadows, The Matrix trilogy, and so much more. Now, Boyle is set to make his feature directorial debut, The Demon Disorder, a new upcoming Shudder original with an eerie new trailer.
The film, described as a demonic family drama, will make its exclusive streaming debut on Shudder in Fall 2024.
Watch the new trailer below to get acquainted with Graham, Jake, and Phillip Reilly, whose lives are upended by a long-buried family secret. As their pasts collide, their late father’s garage becomes the eerie epicenter of supernatural revenge. Boyle puts his SFX background to good use if these goopy, gory, demonic images are anything to go by.
The Demon Disorder “centers on Graham, a man haunted by his past since the death of his father and the estrangement from his two brothers. Jake, the middle brother, contacts Graham, claiming that something is horribly wrong: their youngest brother, Phillip, is possessed by their deceased father. Graham reluctantly agrees to go and see for himself. With the three brothers back together, they soon realize they are unprepared for the forces against them and learn that the sins of their past will not stay hidden. But how do you defeat a presence that knows you inside and out? An anger so powerful it refuses to stay dead?”
John Noble (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy), Charles Cottier, Christian Willis, Dirk Hunter, and Amy Ingram star in the family horror film.
“We are thrilled that The Demon Disorder has reached its final resting place with our friends at Shudder,” said Boyle. “It’s a community and fanbase that we hold in the highest esteem, and we couldn’t be happier to be on this journey with them!”
“After years of creating a range of elaborate visual experiences through his work as a special effects designer on iconic films, we’re thrilled to give Steven Boyle a platform for his feature length directorial debut with The Demon Disorder,“ said Samuel Zimmerman, Head of Programming for Shudder. “Full of impressive body horror that fans have come to expect from this master of effects, Boyle’s film is an engrossing story about breaking generational curses that viewers will find both unsettling and amusing.”
Written and directed by Boyle, along with Toby Osborne (PINDAM) as writer, The Demon Disorder is produced by Boyle and Ally Muller and executive produced by Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig.

Deborah Ann Woll Faces a Chilling Cold Case in ‘The Cycle’ Exclusive First Look
A crime scene leads to horror in The Cycle, the latest from director Jordan Downey ( The Head Hunter, V/H/S/Beyond), and our exclusive first look introduces lead Deborah Ann Woll (“Daredevil: Born Again“, Escape Room) as she investigates the darkly personal case.
The Cycle will debut exclusively on Shudder on October 23, 2026.
The logline reads, “When the body of a man missing for thirty-six years is discovered at the scene of a horrific crime, it’s up to his estranged daughter to unravel his dark past.“
Also starring in The Cycle is Jeffrey Donovan (“Burn Notice“, Villains).
Jordan Downey wrote the screenplay with Kevin Stewart (The Head Hunter).
“We are so excited about The Cycle; Jordan has crafted such an original story that is gonna excite audiences. For us he has the ability to be the next great genre filmmaker and we can’t wait to make the movie,” said James Harris of production company Tea Shop (Obsession, 47 Meters Down). Peter Heller also produces.
Deborah Ann Woll rose to fame as the feisty vampire Jessica Hamby in HBO’s “True Blood” before becoming a fan favorite as Karen Page in Marvel’s “Daredevil” series. While horror fans recognize her from Escape Room and its sequel, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, the versatile actress has captured gamers’ attention as Laufey, Kratos’ wife in God of War: Ragnarök. She’ll receive her solo spinoff game in the upcoming God of War: Laufey.
As for Jordan Downey, The Cycle will mark his long-awaited feature follow-up to the underseen gem, The Head Hunter, but the rising filmmaker also has sci-fi thriller Override on the way.
Stay tuned for more.
