‘Bloody Axe Wound’ Poster Warns That High School Can Be Killer [Exclusive]
High school is hell. In upcoming horror comedy Bloody Axe Wound, it becomes the new slaying ground for a teen eager to follow in her serial killer father’s footsteps. Our exclusive reveal of the coming-of-age horror movie’s poster warns that Clover Falls High might get cutthroat.
RLJE Films releases the meta slasher in select theaters on December 27, 2024.
In Bloody Axe Wound, “Abbie Bladecut is a teenager torn between the macabre traditions of her family’s bloody trade and the tender stirrings of her first crush. In the small town of Clover Falls, Abbie’s father, Roger Bladecut, has built an infamous legacy by capturing real-life killings on tape and selling them to eager customers. But as Abbie delves deeper into the grisly family business, she begins to wonder if it’s time to take the family tradition in a new direction.”
Bloody Axe Wound hails from writer/director Matthew John Lawrence, who directed 2020’s raucous horror comedy Uncle Peckerhead.
Sari Arambulo stars as Abbie, with The Twilight Saga’s Billy Burke playing her father, Roger Bladecut. Roger is a prolific ex-serial killer that runs a video store and sells slasher films featuring a new killer, Butch Slater (“The Walking Dead” actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who also serves as a producer with his wife Hilarie Burton Morgan). When Abbie enrolls in high school to prove to her dad that she has what it takes to become the next killer, she falls for Sam (Molly Brown, “Dexter: Original Sin”). Abbie will then have to choose between friendship and infamy.
Eddie Leavy also stars in the meta slasher that’s produced by Cassandra Del Viscio, Mary Stuart Masterson, Liz DeCesare, Jordan Manekin, Eric Knapp, Mackenzie Luzzi, and Sarah Fairchild.

Shudder’s ‘Hellcat’ Exclusive Trailer Traps an Infected Hostage in a Race Against Time
A gnarly infection threatens to claw its way out of a moving camper in the first trailer for Shudder’s claustrophobic Hellcat.
The feature debut of writer/editor/director Brock Bodell, who previously edited the Fantasia title Ultrasound, makes its debut on Shudder on August 14.
In Hellcat, “Lena wakes up in a moving camper trailer with a horrifying wound. She’s warned by the driver that they have one hour to get to a doctor, or she’ll succumb to an unimaginably awful fate. As the pain sets in and reality begins to fray, who should really be afraid?”
Dakota Gorman (Natural Disasters) leads the cast that also includes Todd Terry (“Breaking Bad”), Liz Atwater (The Other People), Jordan Mullins (The Bikeriders), and James Austin Johnson (“Saturday Night Live”) in a voice role. Bodell also produces alongside Andrew Duensing and Nate Eggert.
Hellcat made its world premiere last summer at Fantasia. I wrote in my review, “Hellcat is a bit of a Trojan horror that defies easy classification, by design. Bodell’s sneaky debut feature is occasionally too sparse in its worldbuilding in its bid to preserve the mystery, but not enough to detract from the thrilling road thriller that transforms into a completely left-field type of horror we don’t get nearly enough of. The stripped-down tribute to a classic horror staple catches you off guard in more ways than one, marking Bodell as one to watch.”
In other words, there’s a lot more than meets the eye to Hellcat‘s simple infection setup, delivering plenty of surprises along its bumpy road of horrors.
Check out the trailer and poster below and add Hellcat to your watchlists asap.
