‘Night Call’ Exclusive Clip Gets the Adrenaline Pumping with Brutal Brawl
Out today on DVD and On Demand is propulsive action thriller Night Call, and we have an exclusive clip that highlights the intense inciting event that kicks off a harrowing fight to survive until dawn.
Jonathan Feltre stars as Mady, the unlucky locksmith thrust into a white-knuckle action thriller when a routine call goes awry.
In Night Call, “One evening, Mady –a young student by day, locksmith by night– receives an emergency call from Claire to open a lock. But the door the young woman wants to open isn’t hers, and the bag she runs away with isn’t hers either. It belongs to Yannick, a vicious mobster who blames Mady and will stop at nothing to retrieve his stolen goods. Mady has only one night to prove his innocence and save his neck. What started out as an ordinary night shift turns into a brutal descent into violence. Night Call is a no-holds-barred crime thriller that ambitiously combines genres, from film noir to action-packed survival.”
Jonas Bloquet (The Nun II, The Nun) and Romain Duris (Final Cut) also star. Night Call was directed by Michiel Blanchart.
I wrote in my review that “Blanchart’s high-octane debut makes for a dazzling and entertaining ride. There’s enough violence and bloodshed to appeal to genre fans, including The Evil Dead playing on TV in a scene featuring almost a cartoonish amount of violence amidst thug ineptitude. While it’s likely a nod to Sam Raimi, who is producing a feature-length version of Blachart’s short film You’re Dead Hélène, there is a sense of playful mischief to Blanchart’s brand of violence that earns that reference. More importantly, it marks him as a filmmaker to watch.
In the exclusive clip below, Mady (Feltre) realizes far too late that Claire isn’t the apartment’s actual owner, making him an intruder, and is subsequently thrust into a brutal brawl with lethal stakes. This inciting encounter launches the white-knuckle Belgian action thriller.

Shudder’s ‘Hellcat’ Exclusive Trailer Traps an Infected Hostage in a Race Against Time
A gnarly infection threatens to claw its way out of a moving camper in the first trailer for Shudder’s claustrophobic Hellcat.
The feature debut of writer/editor/director Brock Bodell, who previously edited the Fantasia title Ultrasound, makes its debut on Shudder on August 14.
In Hellcat, “Lena wakes up in a moving camper trailer with a horrifying wound. She’s warned by the driver that they have one hour to get to a doctor, or she’ll succumb to an unimaginably awful fate. As the pain sets in and reality begins to fray, who should really be afraid?”
Dakota Gorman (Natural Disasters) leads the cast that also includes Todd Terry (“Breaking Bad”), Liz Atwater (The Other People), Jordan Mullins (The Bikeriders), and James Austin Johnson (“Saturday Night Live”) in a voice role. Bodell also produces alongside Andrew Duensing and Nate Eggert.
Hellcat made its world premiere last summer at Fantasia. I wrote in my review, “Hellcat is a bit of a Trojan horror that defies easy classification, by design. Bodell’s sneaky debut feature is occasionally too sparse in its worldbuilding in its bid to preserve the mystery, but not enough to detract from the thrilling road thriller that transforms into a completely left-field type of horror we don’t get nearly enough of. The stripped-down tribute to a classic horror staple catches you off guard in more ways than one, marking Bodell as one to watch.”
In other words, there’s a lot more than meets the eye to Hellcat‘s simple infection setup, delivering plenty of surprises along its bumpy road of horrors.
Check out the trailer and poster below and add Hellcat to your watchlists asap.
