From no-budget backyard productions to enduring cult favorites, director Michael Gingold’s Slasher Trash is a deep dive into the dark waters of the slasher-film genre of the late 1970s and 1980s, celebrating their over-the-top villains, fearless storytelling, and unending gore.
The team previews, “Die-hard fans and even mainstream audiences know Halloween, Friday the 13th and the like, but there’s a whole subculture of more obscure, low- (and no-) budget flicks, made with grab-a camera enthusiasm and no concessions to good taste, dwelling beneath them. This documentary will illuminate the countless movies and madmen (and madwomen) that dwell beyond the household-name films and figures that dominate the trend in the pop-culture consciousness.
“Featuring clips and commentary from the film’s creators, contemporary filmmakers and experts in the field, Slasher Trash will introduce viewers to cult favorites, hidden gems, and the niche and obscure films you’ve never heard of. With a 4+ hour runtime, Slasher Trash aims to give anyone who watches it a long list of psycho-shockers to seek out on video, streaming and at retro screenings.”
CREATORVC has partnered with Gareth Morgan, the creator of Slasher Trash, a Facebook community with 200,000 followers devoted to the sub-genre. Backers will join a community of like-minded slasher fanatics, and be given access to online events, such as Live Q&As with the filmmaking team, stars and creatives of the movies, and genre experts.
In addition, backers will be immortalized in this slasher compendium by having their names included in the credits, making it a truly memorable piece for any horror collection.

They continue to be enjoyed by countless fans today, and to influence many modern filmmakers.
“Slasher Trash is a celebration of these no-holds-barred horror films, one that aims to satisfy die-hard fans while drawing new devotees into this dark world of maniacal murderers and over-the-top mayhem. Get ready for some seriously deep cuts!”

The mind-bending psychological thriller will be released in select theaters and on demand on June 12 via Vertical.

In This Tempting Madness, “Mia awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured. As she puts the pieces of her past together, she starts to question her own actions, and her perception of reality.”
Jennifer E. Montgomery makes her feature directorial debut from a script she co-wrote with director of photography Andrew Davis, inspired by Montgomery’s first-hand experience with tragedy involving her best friend.
“Months before the incident, there were signals that her world was unraveling,” says Montgomery. “I could feel the pressure building, though I didn’t know what form it would take. I never could have known what violence would come, and I certainly never imagined making a film about it.”
Austin Stowell (“NCIS: Origins”), Suraj Sharma (Happy Death Day 2U), Mojean Aria (Reminiscence), Amol Shah (“For All Mankind”), and Zenobia Shroff (“Ms. Marvel”) round out the cast.
Smoke Jumper Films and Mango Monster Productions produce in association with Catchlight Studios (Heretic, The Blackening).
This Tempting Madness is rated R for “language, violence/bloody images, and brief sexuality.”
