The runway calls… but so does something darker in Smile: For the Camera #2, which continues the models’ glamorous, gory descent into insanity.
The second issue of the Smile prequel comic will be published on April 15 via IDW Dark, and we have an exclusive look inside below.
Set during Fashion Month 2005, the first issue followed five young international models who just landed in New York City, ready to tackle four grueling weeks of runways, press, and cameras as they try to make it big. The girls become fast friends… until one seems to crack under the pressure. Little does everyone know that she is afflicted by the entity, a being bent on destruction and pain as it seeks to destroy lives through its horrific visions.
In Issue #2, after the shocking tragedy that rocked SurFace Agency, Freja and her fellow models are whisked off to London Fashion Week, where the pressure to perform is as deadly as the secrets they’re keeping. As Freja’s nightmares begin bleeding into reality, Ivy lands her first big shoot with notorious photographer Perry Rickens — and discovers why his sets are feared as much as they’re coveted.
Smile: For the Camera is written by Hannah Rose May (The Exorcism at 1600 Penn) with art by Miriana Puglia (Disney Villains: Cruella De Vil), colors by Dearbhla Kelly (Red Sonja), and lettering by Brian Kolek.
The second issue features variant covers by Skylar Patridge, Suspiria Vilchez, and Stacey Lee.
