Third ‘I Spit On Your Grave’ Poster Covers Up the Nudity
Anchor Bay Entertainment officially announced today the release of the revenge horror film, I Spit On Your Grave: Vengeance Is Mine, the third film in the franchise that begun with the 2010 remake.
Directed by R.D. Braunstein, the third installment of the controversial cult series will be released in select theaters October 9, 2015 before heading to DVD, Blu-ray and Video On Demand October 20, 2015.
What’s sort of cool about the poster is that it’s a flip on the one for the remake. The 2010 one-sheet pushed the sex and violence by showing close-up of star Sarah Butler’s butt. Now, on the art for I Spit On Your Grave: Vengeance Is Mine, we see the same image, only Butler’s wearing a fancy red dress. Red is the color of rage and death, but the dress represents Butler’s feminine power. I love it.
The synopsis sort of explains more about her character:
“Jennifer Hills (Sarah Butler) is still tormented by the brutal sexual assault she endured years ago (I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 2010). She’s changed identities and cities, reluctantly joining a support group where she begins to piece together a new life. But when her new friend’s murderer goes free and the tales of serial rapists haunt her, Jennifer will hunt down the men responsible and do what the system won’t – make them pay for their crimes in the most horrific ways imaginable. Only this time, no jury may be able to save her.
Jennifer Landon (“The Young and the Restless”), Doug McKeon and Gabriel Hogan (“Heartland”) co-star in this unforgiving, unmerciful and uncut new chapter of one of the most notorious franchises in movie history.”
Anchor Bay Entertainment released I Spit on Your Grave in 2010 and I Spit On Your Grave 2 in 2013 to critical acclaim. Based on Meir Zarchi’s 1978 version, the franchise has gained the respect of both mainstream and genre critics. This latest installment is a continuation of the 2010 film’s storyline.

‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’ Arrives on Hulu and Disney+ Next Week
Get ready for double the fun, protagonists, and body count when Ready or Not 2: Here I Come explodes on streaming next week.
Just in time for the fireworks, the sequel makes its streaming debut on Hulu and Disney+ on July 2.
Directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett are back, along with Samara Weaving, for more hide and slay mayhem.
Picking up moments after the all-out attack from the Le Domas family in the first Ready or Not movie, Grace (Weaving) discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.
That means a higher body count and even more explosive carnage. Just how much? A whopping 325 gallons worth, the directors previously told BD.
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, David Cronenberg, Elijah Wood, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, Varun Saranga, and Daniel Beirne also star.
I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “More is more in Ready or Not 2. Bigger stakes, larger playing field, a higher (and more gruesome) body count, and even double the protagonists. It’s all designed to deliver maximum crowd-pleasing fun.”
The horror-comedy sequel is written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
