Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

Welcome to the first week of July Blu-ray releases! Pretty solid way to kick off the month as we’ve got multiple releases from Arrow, Kino Lorber and Scream Factory!

US Releases

Parasyte – The Maxim: Collection 2 (Sentai Filmworks, Region A)

Synopsis:
It’s the ultimate nightmare. One minute Shinichi Izumi is a normal teenager asleep in his bed. The next he’s been infected with a deadly parasitic organism determined to devour his brain and turn his body into the planet Earth’s new apex predator. But Shinichi partially foils the attack and, instead of being consumed, finds that the creature known as Migi has taken the place of his right hand. Now forced to share the same body, the two must become unwilling allies. Migi isn’t the only one of his kind, and unless human and parasyte work together, they’ll both be killed as abominations.

Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe (Well Go USA, Region A)

Synopsis:
In 1979, giants fossils belonging to unknown creatures are found in the mountains near Mongolian border, along with the perfectly preserved remains of a human form thousands of years ago. An government-funded excavation endeavor is initiated, led by Professor Yang. Among the workers is Hu Bayi, a young soldier who in love with the Professor’s beautiful daughter Ping. When a freak explosion collapses the excavated tunnels, the Professor asks for volunteers to venture with him and his daughter in the mountain and find a new passageway. Hu and a few others step forward, and soon the small group is trekking through the mountain’s treacherous bowels. After the group is decimated by strange, lethal bats, the survivors fall into a precipice, only to wake up at the bottom, miraculously alive. And while looking for a way out, they discover a mysterious cyclopean temple which – as it soon becomes apparent – the Professor had been actively looking for.

Absolution (Kino Lorber, Region A)

Synopsis:
In one of the most compelling and riveting performances of his career, Richard Burton (Where Eagle’s Dare, Cleopatra) portrays Father Goddard, an uncompromising but determined priest who unwittingly bemuse the victim of his own tyrannical behavior. Based on a true story, Anthony Schaeffer’s startling psychological thriller is set in an English boy’s school, where two students, Dai Bradley (Zulu Dawn, All Quiet on the Western Front) and Dominic Guardd (Ghandi, Lord of the Rings) topple over the edge of sanity into a psychotic realm of deadly games.

Code of Honor (Lionsgate, Region A)

Synopsis:
When his family is killed in a drive-by shooting, Robert Sikes, a former special-ops operative, vows to rid his city of every last criminal.

The Empire of Corpses (FUNimation, Region A)

Synopsis:
After breaking the law of reanimating human corpses, young Watson has to either work for the government or face punishment. He has to go on a secret mission, to find the notes of Viktor Frankenstein, who reanimated the first human corpse.

Vigilante Diaries (Anchor Bay, Region A)

Synopsis:
Featuring 90s movie heroes, explosive action, and international espionage, VIGILANTE DIARIES revolves around a team of black-ops agents turned crime-fighters led by a brooding anti-hero known only as “The Vigilante.” International missions of rescue and revenge introduce a cast of colorful, dangerous, and hilarious characters in this high-octane action film.

Suture (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
The wealthy and self-assured Vincent meets his blue collar half-brother Clay at their father’s funeral and is struck by their similarity. He decides to murder Clay and take his identity, only Clay survives the assassination attempt with no memory and is mistaken for Vincent.

The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (Kino Lorber, Region A)

Synopsis:
A gang of thugs who have hijacked a subway train near New York’s Pelham Station threaten to kill one hostage per minute. Forced to stall the assailants until a ransom is delivered or a rescue made, transit chief Lt. Garber must somehow ad-lib, con and outmaneuver one of the craftiest, cruelest villains ever.

Blood and Black Lace (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
Isabella, a young model is murdered by a mysterious masked figure at a boarding house run by Max Morlacchi and his lover Countess Cristiana Como. When Isabella’s boyfriend is suspected of the killing, her diary, which apparently has some incriminating evidence linking her to the killer, dissapears, the masked killer begins killing off all the models in and around the house to find the diary…

The Pack (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
A farmer and his family must fight for survival after a ferocious pack of wild dogs infiltrates their isolated farmhouse. Through a series of frightening and bloody encounters they are forced into survival mode to make it through the night.

Ghostbusters (Best Buy Steelbook, Region A)

Synopsis:
Three university parapsychologists lose a research grant when their experiment methodology is proven to be bogus. The team decides to go into business for themselves as “Ghostbusters”, a ghost removal service. After struggling to get on their feet, they are summoned to investigate the strange happenings in a woman’s Central Park West apartment. What they discover is that all Manhattan is being besieged by ghosts and other worldly demons through a portal in her building.

Ghostbusters II (Best Buy Steelbook, Region A)

Synopsis:
Five years after New York’s finest parapsychologists save Manhattan from the Goze, it seems that the city is being overwhelmed by “mood slime,” and the possessed painting of 16th century sorcerer. Now it’s up to the guys in gray to bring out the best of the Big Apple before it’s too late.

The Mermaid (Sony, Region A)

Synopsis:
Xuan’s estate project involving reclamation of the sea threatens the livelihood of the mermaids who rely on the sea to survive. Shan is dispatched to stop Xuan and this leads them into falling for each other. Out of his love for Shan, Xuan plans to stop the reclamation. Unfortunately, Shan and the other mermaids are hunted by a hidden organization, and Xuan has to save Shan before it’s too late.

Cabin Fever (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
A group of five friends are terrorized at their getaway cabin. A remake of the 2002 film, ‘Cabin Fever’.

The Swinging Cheerleaders (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
In order to write an expose on how cheerleading demeans women, a reporter for a college newspaper infiltrates the cheerleading squad.

The Magnetic Monster (Kino Lorber, Region A)

Synopsis:
Working for O.S.I., the Office of Scientific Investigation, A-Man agent Jeffrey Stewart and his partner Dan Forbes are sent to a local hardware store where they find a strong magnetic field has magnetized every metal item in the store. Investigating further, they eventually trace the source of the magnetism to an airborn flight carrying scientist Howard Denker, now dying of radiation poisoning, who has carted on board with him a new radioactive element which he has bombarded with alpha particles for 200 hours. The element, dubbed ‘serranium’ grows geometrically by creating matter out of energy which it absorbs from metallic objects surrounding it. Stewart calculates that if the substance is not destroyed soon that within 24 hours or so it will have grown large enough to throw Earth out of its orbit.

 

UK Releases

Snow White: A Tale of Terror (Fabulous Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
Based somewhat more authentically on the Grimm Brothers’ story of a young woman who is unliked by her stepmother, the film includes the talking mirror, a poisoned apple, and some ruffian gold miners. It takes place at the time of the Crusades, and depicts the attitudes of the wealthy and the peasant classes toward one another.

Wizards (Fabulous Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
Avatar is the kindly, eccentric sorcerer-ruler of Montagar, a rainbow paradise inhabited by elves and fairies. Avatar’s evil brother Blackwolf dominates Scortch, a bleak land of goblins and wraiths. When the power-hungry Blackwolf attacks Montagar, Avatar, accompanied only by a spirited young woman and a courageous elf, must enter the darkness of Scortch to save his world.

Synopsis:

The Borrowers (Fabulous Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
They’re charming and small and live behind the wall. They’re The Borrowers, tiny people whoese big family adventure is filled with some of the most eye-popping effects ever seen on film. Based on the beloved classic novels by Mary Norton, and starring John Goodman, The Borrowers is a film treat to be enjoyed by people of all sizes!

Watch the Opening ‘Mortal Kombat II’ Battle Scene Now Ahead of Physical Media Release in July

Sequel Mortal Kombat II is now available to watch at home on Digital before heading to physical media in July, but you can test your might now and watch the opening scene.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid returns to the helm for the new sequel from a script by Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight,” Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire).

In Mortal Kombat II, the fan-favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) — are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada are also part of the ensemble cast of Mortal Kombat II fighters.

Watch the opening below, which introduces a young Kitana (Sophia Xu) as Emperor Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) prepares to conquer her father, King Jerrod (Desmond Chiam), and her kingdom of Edenia. It sets the sequel’s entire plot in motion.

From New Line Cinema, James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Broken Road Productions, and Fireside Films, Mortal Kombat II is rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, and language.”

Look for Mortal Kombat II to arrive on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on July 28, 2026.
