A decade before Tim Story’s Fantastic Four hit theaters Roger Corman, the legendary producer and King of the B’s, produced a movie about the Marvel superheroes. This film, titled The Fantastic Four, was directed by Oley Sassone but it was never released and that was the plan all along. Doomed! is an in-depth documentary that attempts to get to the bottom of what happened with this Corman production. It features never before seen footage from the film’s production as well as new on-camera interviews with much of the cast and crew included Corman, Jay Underwood, Michael Bailey Smith, Joseph Culp, Alex Hyde-White and Rebecca Staab.
This looks well, fantastic. I can listen to Corman talk for hours about anything, so I can’t wait to hear what he has to say about this, a project that he says in the trailer is unlike anything else he’s ever encountered. And that’s saying something because Corman has been at this for a really, really long time. Doomed: The Untold Story of Roger Corman’s The Fantastic Four will be available on VOD starting October 11 and on DVD on December 20.
