Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

Have a couple of lights weeks to start the month November finally gets a week jam-packed with awesome releases. A lot of good stuff to get this week so it’s hard to know where to begin. Both C.H.U.D. films are now available on Blu-ray from two different companies (Arrow Video & Lionsgate) which is pretty great. You can pick those up and set up a double feature. Or perhaps you’re into rabies outbreaks. Why not get Grindhouse Releasing’s I Drink Your Blood and pair that with Scream Factory’s Rabid. Plenty of great Blu-ray options to choose from this week!

US Releases

I Drink Your Blood (Grindhouse Releasing, Region A)

Synopsis:
A band of Satanist hippies roll into a town and begin terrorizing the local folk. They rape a local girl and her grandpa goes after them. He fails and is given LSD. This bothers his grandson and he gets back at the hippies by feeding them meat pies infected with blood from a rabid dog. They turn into crazed lunatics and begin killing and/or infecting everything in their path.

Hell or High Water (Lionsgate, Region A)

Synopsis:
A divorced dad and his ex-con brother decide to rob branch offices of the bank that’s threatening to foreclose on the family ranch. Such a poetic act of justice will put them in the crosshairs of a ranger.

To Live and Die in L.A. (Shout Select, Region A)

Synopsis:
When a notorious, highly sophisticated counterfeiter murders his partner, Secret Service agent Richard Chance (William Petersen) launches a furious vendetta to capture the man responsible. But master counterfeiter Rick Masters (Willem Dafoe) is always just one step ahead of Chance in William Friedkin’s thrilling, suspenseful crime drama. With violent shoot-outs and a turbulent chase scene reminiscent of Friedkin’s own The French Connection, To Live and Die in L.A. broke with tradition by making the ostensible hero as morally reprehensible as the villain he pursues. Clashing with bureaucratic obstacles, Chance is forced to break the rules in order to procure cash for a sting operation, but the risks he takes snowball into an avalanche of violence and moral repercussions, leading to a morally ambiguous cul-de-sac from which there may be no return.

One-Eyed Jacks (Criterion, Region A)

Synopsis:
Running from the law after a bank robbery in Mexico, Dad Longworth finds an opportunity to take the stolen gold and leave his partner Rio to be captured…

Kubo and the Two Strings (Universal, Region A)

Synopsis:
Kubo lives a quiet, normal life in a small shoreside village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down by re-igniting an age-old vendetta. This causes all sorts of havoc as gods and monsters chase Kubo who, in order to survive, must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior.

C.H.U.D. (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
A rash of bizarre murders in New York City seems to point to a group of grotesquely deformed vagrants living in the sewers. A courageous policeman, a photo journalist and his girlfriend, and a nutty bum, who seems to know a lot about the creatures, band together to try and determine what the creatures are and how to stop them…

C.H.U.D. II: Bud the Chud (Lionsgate, Region A)

Synopsis:
A military experiment to create a race of super-warriors go awry, and legions of murderous zombies are unleased upon a surburan neighborhood.

Rabid (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
A young woman develops a taste for human blood after undergoing experimental plastic surgery, and her victims turn into rabid, blood-thirsty zombies who proceed to infect others, which turns into a city-wide epidemic.

Return of the Living Dead 3 (Lionsgate, Region A)

Synopsis:
Julie and Curt are sweethearts. But puppy love turns into tragedy when a motorcycle accident kills Julie and separates the young lovers permanently. Still devoted and very heartbroken, Curt tries desperately to keep Julie alive by exposing her to Trioxin, a potent drug which brings the dead back to life. There’s only one problem: when she comes back to life, she’s a vampiress voraciously feeding on human flesh. Now Curt’s got to keep Julie alive and find a way to manage the undead while not becoming dinner himself…

The Undying Monster (Kino Lorber, Region A)

Synopsis:
Surviving members of an aristocratic English family are threatened by a legendary monster when they venture out on chilly, foggy nights.

100 Rifles (Kino Lorber, Region A)

Synopsis:
When an American policeman named Lyedecker comes to Mexico to arrest Yaqui Joe for robbery, he finds himself detained by both an Indian revolution against the Mexican government… and the luscious figure of Joe’s sidekick, Sarita! As the government steps up its plan for the Indians — total extermination — Joe’s stolen money buys weapons for the battle, and Lyedecker joins the fray. But will it be enough to defeat the sadistic General Verdugo and his army?

Hellboy (Zavvi Steelbook, Region B)

Synopsis:

The Warriors (Zavvi Steelbook, Region B)

Synopsis:
A battle of gigantic proportions is looming in the neon underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000; they outnumber the police 5 to 1; and tonight they’re all after the Warriors — a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader’s death.

Five Element Ninjas (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
When a quintet of nasty ninjas hell-bent on world domination nearly massacres an entire clan, its lone survivor must take the path of revenge. He meets up with an old master well versed in the ways of the ninja. Now armed with secret knowledge and newfound friends, he must battle the awesome power of the Five Element Ninjas, who harness the powers of gold, wood, fire, water, and earth.

House of Traps (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
From the creator of the popular Deadly Venoms martial arts series comes the most diabolical adventure of them all! The incredible Venoms, a team of skilled fighters, unleash their fury in a bloody frenzy when they infiltrate a mysterious, treasure-filled house designed to entrap and destroy all those who enter it – as fiendishly and creatively as possible!

Short Night of Glass Dolls (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
The corpse of reporter Gregory Moore (Jean Sorel of LIZARD IN A WOMAN’S SKIN) is found in a Prague plaza and brought to the local morgue. But Moore is actually alive, trapped inside his dead body and desperately recalling how the mysterious disappearance of his beautiful girlfriend (Barbara Bach of THE SPY WHO LOVED ME) led to a terrifying conspiracy of depravity. Can a reporter with no visible signs of life solve this perverse puzzle before he meets his ultimate deadline? Ingrid Thulin (THE DAMNED, SALON KITTY) co-stars in this unusual and startling giallo (also known as PARALYZED and MALASTRANA) that marked the debut of writer/director Aldo Lado (WHO SAW HER DIE?) and features a superb score by the legendary Ennio Morricone.
