James Gunn’s ‘Slither’ Hitting Scream Factory Blu-ray

Slither

Prior to enjoying the biggest success of his career with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn was primarily known as a horror guy. Gunn, who got his start working with Troma, penned the 1996 film Tromeo & Juliet, and he went on to write the awesome Dawn of the Dead remake and write/direct the 2006 horror-comedy Slither. The latter film is finally headed to Blu-ray.

Scream Factory just announced today over on their Facebook page that they will be bringing Gunn’s Slither to Blu-ray sometime this summer. The Collector’s Edition release will likely feature a gaggle of new special features, though no details are available at this time. When Gunn was asked on Facebook if he’d be contributing, he commented that he’d be up for it “if they ask.”

Universal’s DVD release of the film includes deleted/extended scenes, a gag reel, three featurettes, an audio commentary with James Gunn and Nathan Fillion, and more.

In the throwback creature feature:

A small town is taken over by an alien plague, turning residents into zombies and all forms of mutant monsters.

Slither stars Nathan Fillion, Elizabeth Banks, and Michael Rooker.

With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
