New to Blu-ray

Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

We have arrived to the final week of April releases and while it’s relatively small in quantity it’s big in quality! If you’re a fan of older, classic genre stuff you’re really in luck with titles like Caltiki, the Immortal Monster, The Screaming Skull and From Hell it Came hitting Blu-ray in the US and Experiment in Terror and The City of the Dead getting releases in the UK. We also have new titles like The Girl with All the Gifts and some quality 80’s fare with Exterminator 2 and Double Exposure. April is going out in style!

US Releases

The Girl with All The Gifts (Lionsgate, Region A)

Synopsis:
A scientist and a teacher living in a dystopian future embark on a journey of survival with a special young girl named Melanie.

Caltiki, the Immortal Monster (Arrow, Region B)

Synopsis:
A team of archaeologists led by Dr John Fielding descends on the ruins of an ancient Mayan city to investigate the mysterious disappearance of its inhabitants. However, the luckless explorers get more than they bargained for when their investigation of a sacrificial pool awakens the monster that dwells beneath its waters – the fearsome and malevolent god, Caltiki.

Psycho Cop Returns (Vinegar Syndrome, Region Free)

Synopsis:
Psychopath cop decides to kill everyone who he thinks has broken the law.

Double Exposure (Vinegar Syndrome, Region Free)

Synopsis:
A photographer (Michael Callan) begins to have a series of nightmares concerning bloody, gruesome murders. When those murders become reality, he is the prime suspect and must find the real killer.

Rumble Fish (Criterion, Region A)

Synopsis:
Rusty James is the leader of a small, dying gang in an industrial town. He lives in the shadow of the memory of his absent, older brother — The Motorcycle Boy. His mother has left, his father drinks, school has no meaning for him and his relationships are shallow. He is drawn into one more gang fight and the events that follow begin to change his life.

Underworld: Blood Wars (Sony, Region A)

Synopsis:
The epic struggle between the Lycan werewolf clan and the Vampire clan that has vowed to eradicate them continues in this stylish and moody fifth installment.

The Screaming Skull (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
Sickening howls and ghastly visions threaten newlyweds when they move into an isolated mansion teeming with secrets. The house was the site of a gruesome accident which killed the husband’s first wife and the dead woman’s presence continues to haunt their home in the form of a ghostly skull. The young bride has nowhere to run in this desolate farm country and is relentlessly tormented by the apparition. Caught up in the mayhem, the husband is unable to contain the dreadful truth of the manor as the couple struggles to keep their sanity in a final horrific confrontation…

The Vampire Bat (The Film Detective, Region A)

Synopsis:
When the villagers of Klineschloss start dying of blood loss, the town fathers suspect an outbreak of vampirism. While police inspector Brettschneider remains skeptical, scientist Dr. von Niemann cares for the victims one by one. Meanwhile, suspicion falls on simple-minded Herman Gleib because of his fondness for bats.

From Hell it Came (warner Archive, Region A)

Synopsis:
On a remote South-Sea island a tribal prince is killed by a witch doctor for making friends with the nearby American expedition providing medical care while they research nuclear fallout. Before his death, the prince swears revenge and returns from the grave as a giant tree-like monster bringing death to the prince’s enemies (and anyone else who gets in the monster’s way).

Exterminator 2 (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
The flamethrower-wielding vigilante John Eastland returns to rid New York of a drug lord and his gang.

I Bury the Living (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
Robert, the manager of a cemetery, begins a torturous descent into insanity when people owning grave plots begin to die at an alarming rate – seemingly by his hand. On the graveyard grounds map, a black pin in a plot means death, white means life. When the pins get mixed up and strange accidents happen, Robert believes he has the power of life and death. In a hideous experiment the manager resurrects the newly buried, culminating in a night that leaves him in a state of frenetic dementia pursued by a murderer…!

UK Releases

Experiment in Terror (Indicator, Region B)

Synopsis:
A woman is terrorized by a man with an asthmatic voice who plans to use her to steal $100,000 from the bank where she works.

Drunken Master (Eureka Entertainment, Region B)

Synopsis:
The troublesome son of a martial arts master must learn the art of “Drunken Boxing” when he loses a fight with an assassin hired to kill his father.

Phantasm Collection (Arrow, Region B)

Synopsis:
Mike, a young teenage boy who has just lost his parents, is afraid to lose his brother. This fear causes him to follow his brother to a funeral, where Mike witnesses the Tall Man lift a coffin on his own. Mike decides to investigate and discovers a horrible world where the Tall Man, along with his flying spheres, shrink the to half their normal size and reanimate them as slaves. It is then up to Mike, his brother, and Reggie, the ice cream man, to stop the Tall man…

Hard Times (Eureka Entertainment, Region B)

Synopsis:
During the Great Depression, a down-on-his-luck loner, hops a freight train to New Orleans where, on the seedier side of town, he tries to make some quick money the only way he knows how-with his fists.

The City of the Dead (Arrow, Region B)

Synopsis:
College student Nan Barlow is researching the history of witchcraft. Taunted by her brother and fiance, who have voiced their concern over her silly notions, Nan arms herself with resolve and drives into the small New England village of Whitewood. She is glad that at least she was able to count on the support of her professor. A bit anxious but consumed with curiosity, she will soon embark herself on the journey of her life…!

Almost Human (Shameless Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
A psychotic small-time criminal realizes that the everyday robberies, rapes and murders he commits aren’t making him all that much money, so he figures to hit the “big time” by kidnapping the daughter of a rich man.

Chris Coffel is originally from Phoenix, AZ and now resides in Portland, OR. He once scored 26 goals in a game of FIFA. He likes the Phoenix Suns, Paul Simon and 'The 'Burbs.' Oh and cats. He also likes cats.

Watch the Opening ‘Mortal Kombat II’ Battle Scene Now Ahead of Physical Media Release in July

Sequel Mortal Kombat II is now available to watch at home on Digital before heading to physical media in July, but you can test your might now and watch the opening scene.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid returns to the helm for the new sequel from a script by Jeremy Slater (“Moon Knight,” Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire).

In Mortal Kombat II, the fan-favorite champions — now joined by Johnny Cage (Karl Urban) — are pitted against one another in the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders.

Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano, Joe Taslim, and Hiroyuki Sanada are also part of the ensemble cast of Mortal Kombat II fighters.

Watch the opening below, which introduces a young Kitana (Sophia Xu) as Emperor Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford) prepares to conquer her father, King Jerrod (Desmond Chiam), and her kingdom of Edenia. It sets the sequel’s entire plot in motion.

From New Line Cinema, James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Broken Road Productions, and Fireside Films, Mortal Kombat II is rated R for “strong bloody violence and gore, and language.”

Look for Mortal Kombat II to arrive on 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD on July 28, 2026.
