Each week here at Bloody Disgusting we like to highlight some of the new Blu-ray releases hitting shelves across the world. Please note that this isn’t every release for the week, just a few of the ones that jumped out at us.

We have ourselves a big week of releases this week! In larger part due to call the collections out this week. Universal is especially business giving us The Mummy: Complete Legacy Collection, The Mummy: Ultimate Collection and Dracula: The Complete Legacy Collection! And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Break out the wallets, people, we’ve got new Blu-rays to buy!

The Mummy’s Tomb

The Mummy’s Curse

Abbott & Costello Meet the Mummy
In Egypt Peter and Freddie find the archaeologist Dr. Zoomer murdered before they can return to America. A medallion leads them to a crypt where a revived mummy provides the terror.

The Mummy: Ultimate Collection (Universal, Region A)

The Mummy
A full-scale re-imagining of Universal Pictures’ seminal 1932 film, The Mummy is a rousing, humorous, suspenseful and horrifying epic about an expedition of treasure-seeking explorers in the Sahara Desert in 1925. Stumbling upon an ancient tomb, the hunters unwittingly set loose a 3,000-year-old legacy of terror, which is embodied in the vengeful reincarnation of an Egyptian priest who had been sentenced to an eternity as one of the living dead.

The Mummy Returns
It is 1933, and 8 years have passed since dashing legionnaire Rick O’Connell and fearless Egyptologist Evelyn fought for their lives against a 3000-year-old enemy named Imhotep. Rick and Evelyn are married now, raising their son Alex in London. A chain of events finds the mummy of Imhotep resurrected in the British Museum, walking the earth once more in his search for immortality. But another force has also been set loose in the world – one born of the darkest rituals of ancient Egyptian mysticism, and even more powerful than Imhotep. When these two forces clash, the fate of the world will hang in the balance, sending the O’Connells on a desperate race to save the world from unspeakable evil and rescue their son before it’s too late.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon
A despotic Emperor in 50 B.C. is punished for his evil when a witch lays a curse on him, turning him and his army into terra cotta for all time. Forward to 1946, where Rick and Evelyn have retired to Oxfordshipre, England, having worked as British spies during WWII. They’re offered one last mission from the Foreign Office. Their assignment: courier a precious artifact back to the museum in Shanghai, China. Back in Asia: China is in turmoil but Jonathan owns an Egyptian-themed bar in Shanghai. Unbeknownst to his parents, now grown-up Alex O’Connell is following in the family business as a young archaeologist on a dig in north-central China. He makes the discovery of a lifetime: the tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which has been buried for millennia. The Emperor’s monument is transported back to Shanghai where another plot is in motion: a military zealot intends to awaken the Emperor and aid him in the re-conquest of China and the raising of his terra cotta army of ten thousand clay warriors.

The Scorpion King
In the notorious city of Gomorrah, an evil ruler is determined to lay waste to all the nomadic peoples of the desert. The few remaining tribes, never natural allies, have to unite or perish. Knowing their enemy relies on the visions of a sorcerer, they hire a skilled assassin, Mathayus to eliminate the visionary. After infiltrating the enemy camp, Mathayus discovers that the sorcerer is in fact a beautiful woman. Rather than eliminate her, he takes her deep into the desert badlands, knowing that the ruler’s henchman will stop at nothing to rescue her and bring her back. Seriously wounded in the ensuing battle, Mathayus must find the strength to lead his scrappy band of allies back to Gomorrah for a final confrontation.

High Point (Code Red, Region A)

Synopsis:
James Hatcher embezzles ten million dollars from a joint mafia/CIA operation, leaving them squabbling with each other. Unemployed Lewis Kinney gets caught up in the intrigue, and must try to recover the money, while saving the beautiful Lise Hatcher (hopefully for himself).

Payback Time Triple Feature (Mill Creek, Region A)

Blind Fury
Blinded and left to die in Vietnam, Nick Parker has been missing in action for more than two decades. Finally home, he sets out to find and forgive his old Army buddy.

Silent Rage
Dan Stevens is the sheriff of a small Texas town who checks out a disturbance which turns to murder. The killer is still in the house and he tries to kill Dan, but Dan stops him and arrests him. The killer attempts to flee, but is shot and killed and is taken to a medical institute. Three doctors, led by Dr. Philip Spires, operates on the killer and brings him back to life using a formula that the three doctors made and the killer is made indestructable. Dr. Tom Halman tries to terminate the killer, but he and his wife are killed. After the two remaining doctors are killed, the killer goes after Dr. Halman’s sister Alison, and it’s up to Sheriff Dan Stevens to stop him.

White Line Fever
Returning from a stint in the Air Force, Carrol Jo Hummer borrows money to buy a truck, hoping to make enough money hauling produce to marry Jerri Kane and set up housekeeping. He discovers that the long-haul business is run by racketeers and decides to fight the corrupt forces that control the trucking business.

Wonder Woman (Warner Bros, Region A)

Synopsis:
On the mystical island of Themyscira, a warrior race of Amazons have raised a daughter of beauty, grace and strength: Princess Diana. When Army fighter pilot Steve Trevor crash-lands on the island, Diana defies Amazonian law by accompanying Trevor back to civilization. Meanwhile, Ares, the god of war, has escaped his imprisonment at the hands of the Amazonians and intends to start a world war that will wipe out every living being on the planet. It is up to Diana to save her people and the world by becoming Wonder Woman!

The Climber (Arrow, Region A)

Synopsis:
A hungry young buck who aspires to be a career criminal starts out working at a warehouse for a gangster, and because of his ruthlessness and dependability he begins to ascend the ladder of organized crime.

Dracula’s Daughter
Professor Van Helsing has done the world a favor by driving a stake through the heart of Count Dracula and thus destroying him. For his trouble, Scotland Yard charges him with murder. Dr. Jeffrey Garth, a psychiatrist, may be able to act as an attorney and defend him in court. But Garth finds he has his own troubles when the Countess Marya Zaleska seeks his help. She wants to be released from her desire to drink the blood of the living. She steals the corpse of her father, Count Dracula, and burns it ritually; but she still wants blood. She’ll do anything to free herself of this curse, including kidnapping the baron’s daughter who is Dr. Garth’s assistant, and thwarting the hopes of her sinister manservant, Sandor…

Son of Dracula
Count Alucard finds his way from Budapest to the swamps of the Deep South after meeting Katherine Caldwell, of the moneyed Caldwell clan that runs a plantation called Dark Oaks. She’s obsessed with occult matters. Who better to guide her through this supernatural world than Count Alucard, whose name no one bothers to spell backwards? No one, that is, except the wily Dr. Brewster, an old family friend. He’ll join Professor Lazlo, a specialist in the occult, in fighting this “Alucard” and the woman he’s influenced. Or has Katherine influenced him? Meanwhile, Katherine’s fiancé, Frank Stanley, will find his courage and his sanity sorely tested when he accidentally shoots Katherine to death, yet finds that she goes on living…

House of Frankenstein
Dr. Niemann regales his hunchbacked cellmate, Daniel, with tales of how he had nearly put the brain of a human into a dog. A thunderstorm destroys their prison, and they escape to find refuge in a carnival. The carnival owner has possession of the skeleton of Count Dracula, who can be revived. Niemann has the hunchback kill the owner, and then resurrects Dracula. Later, Niemann and the hunchback encounter a gypsy caravan where Daniel falls in love with a beautiful gypsy girl. She travels with them to Frankenstein’s ruined castle, where they find Frankenstein’s monster and the Wolf Man frozen in ice. Niemann thaws them out, finding the Monster fairly inert and the Wolf Man changed back to the tormented Larry Talbot. To Daniel’s misery, the gypsy girl falls in love with Talbot. Meanwhile, Niemann promises both the hunchback and Talbot new bodies…

House of Dracula
Dracula arrives at Dr. Edelman’s office asking for a cure to his vampirism. However, this is a ruse by Dracula to get near Dr. Edelman’s beautiful female assistant and turn her into a vampire. Meanwhile, a sincere Lawrence Talbot (the Wolfman), arrives seeking a cure for his lycanthropy. When Dr. Edelman’s first attempt fails, Talbot tries to commit suicide by jumping off a cliff, but instead finds a network of underground caves where Frankensteins Monster is in stasis. Chaos ensues as the three monsters fight for dominance of each other…

Abbott & Costello Meet Frankenstein
The world of baggage handlers Chick Young and Wilbur Grey is turned upside down when they receive the remains of Dracula and Frankenstein bound for the House of Horrors Museum. When Dracula and Frankenstein escape, complete chaos ensues as Chick and Wilbur get mixed up in an evil plot to switch Wilbur’s brain with Frankenstein’s and are aided by Larry Talbot, who turns into The Wolf Man when the moon is full! Featuring a perfect blend of laughs and thrills, this is one of the all-time great horror comedies.

Streets of Fire (Shout Select, Region A)

Synopsis:
Rock and Roll singer is taken captive by a motorcycle gang in a strange world that seems to be a cross of the 1950’s and the present or future. Her ex-boyfriend returns to town and to find her missing and goes to her rescue.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (Sony, Region A)

Synopsis:
Alice, Claire, and Wesker rush to The Hive, where The Red Queen plots total destruction over the human race.

Return of the Dragon (Shout Select, Region A)

Synopsis:
Bruce Lee plays a country boy who travels to Rome to help a family friend whose Chinese restaurant is being terrorized by Italian mobsters. With his formidable Kung Fu skills, Lee totally crushes the city gangsters.

Game of Death (Shout Select, Region A)

Synopsis:
After a failed attempt by the mob to assassinate him, action film star Billy Lo (Bruce Lee) fakes his own death and plots his revenge against the crime syndicate responsible for threatening his life.

Willard (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
The young, disturbed Willard Stiles befriends a pair of rats and trains them to brutally attack human beings. When his boss steps over the line, Willard sicks his deadly horde of flesh-eating rats on him. However, Willard’s greatest allies become his worst enemies.

Ben (Scream Factory, Region A)

Synopsis:
This sequel to the rampaging-rodent chiller Willard stars Lee H. Montgomery as young Danny Garrison, a neglected kid who finds a new little friend in Ben — an intelligent rat whose furry minions managed to slaughter most of the cast of the previous film. Proving that one can’t teach an old rat new tricks — just variations on the old ones — Ben displays his affection for Danny by directing his posse to off anyone who torments him.

Silent Scream (Scorpion Releasing, Region A)

Synopsis:
Scotty moves into Mrs. Engels’ seaside mansion where three other college students are boarding. Mrs. Engels prefers to stay in her room in the attic, but her son Mason helps the students get settled. Soon one of the students is killed. The policemen on the case begin uncovering the Engels family secret as the remaining students become endangered.

The Return of Swamp Thing (Screenbound Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
Swamp Thing is a hero of sorts, rescuing attractive horticulturist Abby from her stepfather, Dr. Arcane, whom she suspects is behind her mother’s death.

Masked Avengers (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
The leader of a trio searching for a crime syndicate discovers that one of his men may be a syndicate spy.

Return to Horror High (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
A few years ago, a mysterious serial-killer caused panic on Crippen High School. The killer was never caught. A movie company, Cosmic Pictures, has decided to make a feature movie about these events – on location, at the now abandoned school. Since members of cast and crew disappear without a trace, it seems as if history is repeating itself…

Delirium (88 Films, Region B)

Synopsis:
This spaghetti horror’s storyline revolves around a former hooker (Grandi) running a successful men’s magazine. An obsessed admirer systematically slaughters her models (occasionally increasing the magazine’s output) and supplies the mistress with pictures of their disfigured corpses taken in front of her semi-nude posters visible in the background. Is she going to be the psycho’s next victim?

The Entity (Eureka, Region B)

Synopsis:
Carla Moran awakens one night to find herself being beaten and raped by an unseen presence. Terrified of what’s happening to her, and shunned by friends and family who think she’s lost her mind, she seeks help from parapsychologists.

‘Lisa Frankenstein’ Shambles Onto Blu-ray in April With Audio Commentary and Deleted Scenes

The horror-comedy Lisa Frankenstein is headed home to physical media, with the film zombie-walking its way onto DVD and Blu-ray from Universal on April 9, 2024.

Directed by Zelda Williams and written by Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body), Lisa Frankenstein will also be available for a lower price on Digital beginning March 29.

Meagan Navarro wrote in her review for Bloody Disgusting,” Billed as a coming-of-rage tale, Lisa Frankenstein instead offers a celebration of outcasts and weirdos.”

“It makes for a sugary sweet, almost wholesome effort held together by a trio of infectiously winsome performances,” Meagan’s review continued. She added, “As a celebration of teen girls and outcasts who just want to be loved, Lisa Frankenstein ultimately charms.”

Kathryn Newton (Freaky) and Cole Sprouse (“Riverdale”) lead the cast for Focus Features, and the new film is rated “PG-13” for “bloody images and sexual material.”

Carla Gugino (The Fall of the House of Usher), Liza Soberano (Alone/Together), Joe Chrest (Stranger Things) and Henry Eikenberry (The Crowded Room) also star.
