Mill Creek Releasing ‘Night of the Living Dead’ 50th Anniversary Blu-ray in October

The 50th anniversary of George Romero’s Night of the Living Dead may not actually be until 2018, but Mill Creek Entertainment is getting the party started a little early.

The distribution company just announced that they’re bringing Romero’s seminal zombie classic to Blu-ray in October; it’ll be the film’s first Blu-ray release here in the States!

Mind you, this particular release has no connection to the recent 4K restoration of Night of the Living Dead, which recently nabbed theatrical distribution via Janus Films and will be publicly screening this coming October. Many fans have speculated that the restoration will soon hit Blu-ray as part of the Criterion Collection, but for now that’s nothing more than a rumor.

In the meantime, Mill Creek’s release should scratch the itch!

Look for this one on October 3.

Gateway Horror Classic ‘The Gate’ Returns to Life With Blu-ray SteelBook in May

One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!

The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones.
