Published

on

We told you back in July that Doppelgänger Releasing will be unleashing Wes Craven‘s 1978 Summer of Fear on Blu-ray and Digital HD Oct 10, 2017, for the first time ever. That’s still the plan, and we’ve got all the release info today.

Originally released under the title Stranger in Our House, the made-for-television film premiered on Halloween night in 1978 on NBC.

Thirty-nine years later, Summer of Fear will finally make its Blu-ray debut with a Special Collector’s Edition alongside a DVD and VOD (iTunes, Amazon Instant, Google Play, Vudu, YouTube) release. Special bonus features include…

  • Exclusive new interview with Linda Blair
  • Director commentary by Wes Craven
  • Poster and still gallery
  • Original trailer.

Based on the best-selling young adult novel by Lois Duncan of I Know What You Did Last Summer fame, Summer of Fear tells the tale of plucky teenaged Rachel (Linda Blair) whose life is turned dangerously upside down when her cousin Julie (Lee Purcell) moves in following the death of her parents in a car crash. Julie enchants everyone in the family and appears to be a loving relative, but Rachel knows her cousin is up to something creepy…something like witchcraft!

Jeremy Slate, Jeff East and Fran Drescher also star.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
