Adam Green’s Hatchet films are straight up tributes to 1980s slasher cinema, when horror movies were being primarily watched on VHS tapes. Needless to say, it’s only fitting that the latest installment in the franchise is now, long after the death of VHS, coming to… VHS?!

We can exclusively reveal today that the website Broke Horror Fan is launching a new “BrokeHorrorFan.com Presents” line of limited edition VHS tapes, and Victor Crowley is first!

The site’s owner, Alex DiVincenzo tells us…

“Broke Horror Fan and Witter Entertainment have teamed up to set modern monsters loose in a nostalgic format. Each release serves as both a limited edition collectible and a fully-functional VHS tape. The premier installment in the BrokeHorrorFan.com Presents line is Adam Green’s Victor Crowley, the fourth installment in the Hatchet franchise. The 2017 slasher movie makes its VHS debut in a retro-style clamshell case with original artwork by Dark Horse Books artist Will Perkins. It is officially licensed from Dark Sky Films and is approved by writer-director Adam Green.

There are three covers to choose from: the standard edition (limited to 300), the bloody variant (limited to 150), and the WitterEntertainment.com-exclusive line art variant (limited to 50; hand-numbered and signed by the artist). Variant editions include a blood-splattered letter from Adam Green to the Hatchet Army members.

For optimal VHS viewing, the film has been cropped from its original aspect ration to 4:3 full frame. It is only available in the US and Canada.”

All three variants will go on sale on July 13 (Friday the 13th) at 12pm EST/9am PST at WitterEntertainment.com. Green’s ArieScope.com will also be selling a limited amount of the standard and bloody versions autographed by Adam Green.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. Instead, they unearth The Gate — an underground chamber of terrifying demonic evil. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
