“The Exorcist” Series Quietly Dumped to DVD Over at Amazon
Fox really kicked “The Exorcist” series to the curb. Actually, they sort of curb stomped it. After being canceled following the second season, Twentieth Century Fox Television quietly dumped the two completed seasons to DVD. No Blu-ray. No extras. Nothing. You can order Season One here and the second here. Weirdly, these DVDs are printed on demand by Amazon, so it appears this is the only retailer to carry at the moment if you wanted a physical copy.
Widely regarded as the greatest horror movie ever made, “The Exorcist” broke box office records and terrified audiences around the world. Now, more than four decades later, “The Exorcist” returns as a contemporary psychological TV thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of terrifying demonic possession.
Opening an entirely new chapter in the iconic franchise, Season Two finds Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.

After a record-breaking box office run and an extended cut re-release, A24 and director Kane Parsons’ Backrooms is heading home to Digital.
Backrooms will be available to rent or buy this Tuesday, July 14.
In the film, Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in Backrooms as the owner of Cap’n Clark’s Ottoman Empire, who discovers a strange doorway in the basement of the furniture showroom. He sets out to explore the mysterious, liminal space, walking headfirst into a creepypasta nightmare.
Renate Reinsve (A Different Man) also stars in Backrooms.

I wrote in my review, “Backrooms is at once complex and sparse, but never repetitive. It might be set in 1990, but it effectively captures modern anxieties and isolation in a way that frequently makes your skin crawl. While the journey ultimately loses steam by its cryptic end, Parsons’ visual representation of the human psyche disturbs like no other.”
YouTube prodigy Kane Parsons makes his feature directorial debut based on his creepypasta-inspired video series, which debuted in 2022 and has amassed over 190 million views to date.
