1988 Horror Film ‘Edge of the Axe’ Coming to Arrow Video Blu-ray With New Restoration

At long last, another ’80s horror film comes off VHS and onto Blu-ray!

Announced by Arrow Video over the weekend, Spanish filmmaker José Ramón Larraz’s Edge of the Axe (Al filo del hacha), released in 1988 and to date only available on VHS, will be slashing its way onto the Arrow Video line in 2019 with a brand new restoration!

In the film…

“A masked serial killer is murdering people in a small village with an axe. A young couple unwillingly end up in the middle of all the chaos, and eventually become the next target. Will they be able to catch the killer and reveal his/her identity or will the town population reach zero?”

Gateway Horror Classic ‘The Gate’ Returns to Life With Blu-ray SteelBook in May

One of my personal favorite horror movies of all time, 1987’s gateway horror classic The Gate is opening back up on May 14 with a brand new Blu-ray SteelBook release from Lionsgate!

The new release will feature fresh SteelBook artwork from Vance Kelly, seen below.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones.
