One of the best werewolf movies ever made is also one of the greatest coming-of-age horror films.
John Fawcett‘s Canadian indie Ginger Snaps (2000) introduced us to Katharine Isabelle, who would go on to star in both Freddy vs. Jason and American Mary, and Emily Perkins as two death-obsessed sisters who must deal with the tragic consequences when one of them is bitten by a deadly werewolf.
While a Collector’s Edition Blu-ray is available through Scream! Factory, Ginger Snaps is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, the two sequels aren’t on Prime, although they are both available for free on Tubi.
Earlier this year, Meagan Navarro wrote about the trilogy and the “deadly puberty is hell metaphor” in her special feature: “Sisters United in Blood”.
For those unacquainted, Ginger Snaps is a horror must see.
