Bloody Disgusting has an exclusive extended and unedited scene from the ’80s Horror Documentary In Search of Darkness (pre-order) in which horror legend Joe Dante talks about the many films that ripped off his Gremlins.

When asked about the subsequent projects, Dante sounds like he took Empire Pictures’ Ghoulies a bit personal, even though he’s “heard” that the film was in the works at the same time as Gremlins. “The fact that the ad has a Ghoulie coming out of the toilet probably expresses my feelings about the whole series,” he joked.

As for giving his blessing to any of the ripoffs, he’d offer his to New Line Cinema’s Critters film. And he does acknowledge that his Piranha was a ripoff of Jaws. Watch below!
