Vinegar Syndrome Releasing the Rated “R” Gore Cut of ‘Tammy and the T-Rex’ on 4K Ultra HD!

Published

on

We already knew that Vinegar Syndrome was bringing the original, “R” rated “gore cut” of 1994’s Tammy and the T-Rex to Blu-ray later this year, but the label has made the surprise announcement today that the film will also be their first-ever 4K Ultra HD release!

“We hope that this will be the first of many UHD releases in our future,” the company says.

Here are some important notes about the release:

  • Tammy will be available in two versions: UHD/BD combo and BD/DVD combo.
  • 2019 Yearly Subscribers will automatically receive the UHD/BD combo of Tammy.
  • UHD/BD combo actual sell price will be $35 on Vinegar’s website.
  • Black Friday flash preorder customers will have the option to upgrade their current BD/DVD combo of Tammy to a UHD/BD combo for $10. Upgrade payment links will be emailed early next week.
  • Eventually the UHD of Tammy will be available through mass retail, but for now, it will only be available on www.VinegarSyndrome.com for $35 during the Black Friday sale on November 29th.

To recap, when it was released in 1994, Tammy and the T-Rex had a PG-13 rating attached to it, but what many didn’t know at the time was that it was originally conceived as a gory, rated “R” affair. For the first time ever, the newly unearthed “gore cut” of the film was recently screened at Cinepocalypse, and Vinegar Syndrome brings it home for the first time.

In the Stewart Raffill-directed Tammy and the T-Rex, starring Denise Richards as Tammy and an animatronic dinosaur as, well, the T-Rex, “An evil scientist implants the brain of Michael, a murdered high school student, into an Tyrannosaurus. He escapes, wreaks vengeance on his high school tormentors and is reunited with his sweetheart Tammy.”

The late Paul Walker also starred in the sci-fi/comedy, which now features 10 minutes of spectacular gore effects by the late John Carl Buechler… as originally intended!

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.
