Death? There’s an App for That: ‘Countdown’ Heads to DVD and Blu-ray in January 2020

Published

on

A forgettable but passable teen horror film, STX Entertainment’s Countdown was released in theaters back in October and has raked in $31 million worldwide at the box office, and it’s now headed to home video from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The film will hit Digital on January 7, 2020 and DVD/Blu-ray on January 21, 2020.

What if your phone could tell you when you’re going to die? Would you want to know? Countdown follows a young nurse (Elizabeth Lail), who downloads an app that claims to predict exactly when a person is going to die. With only three days left to live and death closing in, she must find a way to save her life before time runs out.

The cast also includes Jordan Calloway (“ER”), Talitha Bateman (Love, Simon), Tichina Arnold (“Everybody Hates Chris”), P.J. Byrne (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Peter Facinelli (The Twilight franchise). Countdown is the writing and feature directorial debut of Justin Dec.

Writer in the horror community since 2008. Editor in Chief of Bloody Disgusting. Owns Eli Roth's prop corpse from Piranha 3D. Has four awesome cats. Still plays with toys.

When best friends Glen (Stephen Dorff) and Terry (Louis Tripp) stumble across a mysterious crystalline rock in Glen’s backyard, they quickly dig up the newly sodden lawn searching for more precious stones. The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
