The rated R “gore cut” of 1994’s Tammy and the T-Rex was unearthed, restored and brought to Cinepocalypse earlier this year, and soon thereafter it was released on both Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD discs by Vinegar Syndrome. Up next, the gory version of the ’90s film is headed to streaming for the very first time, and naturally, you’ll find it only on Shudder!
The uncut, R-rated version will begin streaming on Monday, January 13, 2020.
To recap, when it was released in 1994, Tammy and the T-Rex had a PG-13 rating attached to it, but what many didn’t know at the time was that it was originally conceived as a gory, rated “R” affair. For the first time ever, the newly unearthed “gore cut” of the film was recently screened at Cinepocalypse, and Vinegar Syndrome brought it home for the first time.
In the Stewart Raffill-directed Tammy and the T-Rex, starring Denise Richards as Tammy and an animatronic dinosaur as, well, the T-Rex, “An evil scientist implants the brain of Michael, a murdered high school student, into an Tyrannosaurus. He escapes, wreaks vengeance on his high school tormentors and is reunited with his sweetheart Tammy.”
The late Paul Walker also starred in the sci-fi/comedy, which now features 10 minutes of spectacular gore effects by the late John Carl Buechler… as originally intended!
