A personal Halloween favorite of mine is director Bobby Roe’s The Houses October Built, a standout found footage film released in 2014. A mash-up of real haunted attraction footage and fictional terror, the film centered on a group of friends on a road trip to find the scariest haunts in the world, ultimately ending up inside of their own horror story.
What’s better than watching The Houses October Built this Halloween season? How about watching it on fully functional VHS?! Broke Horror Fan just announced today that the 2014 found footage movie is the latest in their line of limited edition VHS releases, with the tape going on sale next Friday, October 2, at 12pm EST/9am PST via WitterEntertainment.com.
Broke Horror Fan explains, “From producer Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, Insidious), the 2014 found footage horror film arrives on VHS in a black clamshell case with artwork by Kyle Crawford, courtesy of Fright-Rags. It’s limited to 100 units. Each tape includes exclusive cast introductions and a letter from the filmmakers. “For optimal VHS viewing, the film has been cropped from its original aspect ratio to 4:3 full frame. It is officially licensed from RLJE Films and has been approved by director Bobby Roe.”
