‘Promising Young Woman’ Comes to Blu-ray in March With Writer/Director Emerald Fennell Commentary Track
One of the most talked about new movies of the year, director Emerald Fennell‘s Promising Young Woman has already been well-represented on this year’s awards scene, currently nominated for four Golden Globes with a potential trip to the Oscars in its future. On the road to the Oscars, we’ve learned today that the film is headed to Blu-ray next month.
Universal will release Promising Young Woman on Digital March 2, DVD/Blu-ray on March 16.
Special Features include:
- Audio commentary by writer-director Emerald Fennell
- A Promising Vision – Writer/director Emerald Fennell discusses her inspirations for the film
- Two-Sided Transformation – A look at how casting, wardrobe, hair, and makeup were used to express the balance between light and dark
- Balancing Act – Cast members discuss their reactions to the film’s balance of levity and tragedy
In Promising Young Woman, “Everyone said Cassie (Carey Mulligan) was a promising young woman…until a mysterious event abruptly derailed her future. But nothing in Cassie’s life is what it appears to be: she’s wickedly smart, tantalizingly cunning, and she’s living a secret double life by night. Now, an unexpected encounter is about to give Cassie a chance to right the wrongs of the past in this thrilling and wildly entertaining story.”
Meagan Navarro writes about the film, “Promising Young Woman is another entry in a growing trend of modern rape-revenge films that have departed horror in favor of weaponizing other genre tropes to support their core themes. While Fennell’s debut continues to inspire debate over its messaging, it succeeds in demonstrating that a rape-revenge film doesn’t have to belong to horror to elicit a lingering, visceral response.”
