Original ‘Friday the 13th’ Getting a 4K Ultra HD Upgrade This September!
Who’s ready to buy the original Friday the 13th… again? It looks like Paramount is finally upgrading the 1980 classic to 4K Ultra HD, and it’s set for release on September 13, 2022.
Dawn of the Discs first brought the news to our attention this morning, and the Friday the 13th 4K Ultra HD + Digital Code release can be pre-ordered from Amazon right now.
Paramount details, “The terrifying first Friday the 13th that launched the iconic horror movie franchise comes to 4K UHD! The thrills start when the new owner, and several young counselors, gather to reopen Camp Crystal Lake. Years ago, a young boy named Jason Voorhees drowned, and a series of vicious murders occurred thereafter.
“Despite locals’ warnings that the place has a “death curse,” the new crew continues to relaunch the camp. One by one, they find out how unlucky Friday the 13th can be as they are stalked by a violent killer.” Both the “Unrated” and theatrical cuts are included.

The teenagers soon understand what evil they’ve released as they are overcome with an assortment of horrific experiences. With fiendish followers invading suburbia, it’s now up to the kids to discover the secret that can lock The Gate forever . . . if it’s not too late.
If you’ve never seen The Gate, it’s now streaming on Prime Video and Tubi.
