Scream Factory Bringing ‘Killer Klowns from Outer Space’ to 4K UHD and 4K SteelBook!

While you wait for the Killer Klowns from Outer Space video game this June, the cult classic 1980s movie is getting a brand new 4K Ultra HD release from Scream Factory!

Scream Factory has announced today that they’ve upgraded Killer Klowns from Outer Space to the 4K Ultra HD format, with a 4K SteelBook release also coming soon.

The 4K SteelBook features brand new art, which you can preview below. As for the 4K release in standard packaging, it features the original poster art for the 1988 horror-comedy.

These new releases celebrate the 35th anniversary of the beloved horror movie, and multiple different bundles that are available for pre-order on Scream Factory’s website include exclusive slipcovers, a retro prism sticker, an enamel pin set, a lobby card set, and more.

They’re all available on May 14, 2024.

Stephen Chiodo directed Killer Klowns from Outer Space, working alongside brothers Charles Chiodo and Edward Chiodo on the film’s script and iconic Klowns costumes.

Grant Cramer and Suzanne Snyder star alongside the late John Vernon. In the film, “Aliens who look like clowns come from outer space and terrorize a small town.”

‘Hokum’ Heads Home to Digital Tomorrow Ahead of Physical Media Release in August

After scaring up a strong theatrical run, Oddity director Damian McCarthy’s Hokum heads home to Digital this week.

Settle in for a spooky supernatural chiller as Hokum arrives on all Digital platforms to rent or own beginning June 2, followed by a Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD Combo and DVD release on August 11, 2026.

Adam Scott (“Severance”) stars in Hokum as reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman. When he retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw Ohm into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.

Peter Coonan (“The Alienist: Angel of Darkness”), David Wilmot (“Station Eleven”), Florence Ordesh (“Departure”), Michael Patric (“Frontier”), Will O’Connell (“Game of Thrones”), Brendan Conroy (“Bodkin”), and Austin Amelio (“The Walking Dead”) also star.

I wrote in my review for Bloody Disgusting, “A quaint Irish hotel with a deeply haunted history awaits an American writer in McCarthy’s third outing, continuing his streak for folkloric tales of supernatural karma and spine-tingling terror with a dark sense of humor.”

What’s next from Damian McCarthy? He’s currently writing a haunted house movie, but recent comments suggest he may be moving into other genres beyond that upcoming project.
